Bolam’s story-telling is in full force, with an epic retelling of Mercy System’s ‘Every Time I See You’ with his own style folded throughout.

‘Everything Merged’ is 3024’s second series of compilations featuring artists from the 3024 Mentoring Program. At the beginning of the pandemic, label owner Martyn started forming a lively online community of artists, providing them with ideas and inspiration. This community grew larger and larger, and musicians started to connect both online and offline, across continents and genres. It resulted in the “It Was Always There” series of compilations in 2021, as well as countless independent releases, radio appearances and gigs, putting a host of artists on the map.

Working on the program made Martyn and partner Jeroen Erosie reconsider the purpose of running a record label in 2022. ‘Are we still interested in putting out records via the usual channels?’ Or should a label become more of an umbrella for various activities by a larger community, both online and IRL, with digital and physical products, in other words merge everything into one.

“Everything Merged vol. 2” features both artists debuting their first tracks on a label as well as mainstays of core local scenes like London, NYC, SF and Berlin. From the percussive mastery of Sister Zo, Arcane Prospect and Manchester's DR MYSTERY to the sly techno mutations of Kudeki, Clay Wilson and Pino Peña, this collection highlights the wide variety of sounds and influences inhibiting the current electronic scene. Especially check out the post-pando exuberance of uuklyph, Henry Kerins and Padoa and the bass mutations of Dutch duo TMSV & Case, Kenji Ko, Ragdy and Rex the Bard!

On ACEN048, Outsider makes her All Centre debut. Following standout appearances on four Pressure Dome compilations, the Derbyshire-based artist presents two forward-thinking, experimental club tracks.

Good Bone Structure opens with tense rolling snares and a shimmering pad as kick drums articulate the track’s broken rhythm. The arrangement builds to the introduction of a two note bassline which shifts and evolves into new and unpredictable mutations throughout the 7 minute track, underpinned by hard drums and embellished with ecstatic synth melodies.

Stick Shift opens with forceful four to the floor kicks and a dubbed-out, restless chord progression which darts around the percussion. The synth moves and grows, alternating with and reacting to the track’s ricocheting bassline, whilst syncopated claps keep the track’s compelling rhythms in check.

Good Bone Structure is available across all digital platforms on the 26th May.

« Founded almost four years ago, Le Motel’s Maloca Records has excelled in world-building as it tirelessly brings together some of the best and most innovative artists from different pockets of the club community around the world. This is showcased most notably through the compilation series which returns for its second volume on the 8th December as it combines both established and breakthrough artists.

Across 17 tracks, Maloca, Vol. 2 features both label family and exciting debuts with the likes of Farsight, Griffit Vigo, and DJ JM returning to the imprint. The rest of the compilation sees knockout contributions from the likes of Bambounou, Flore, Konduku, Tristan Arp, NVST, De Grandi, Neida, Cheb Runner, Malo2k, Leese, Ultima Esuna & Destrata, Mika Oki, M I M I and Space Drum Meditation. Whilst these artists may be from different cities across the pond, they all have something in common - they are leading the way for the next wave of club music. Whether that’s the riotous sounds of NVST, Griffit Vigo’s ever- evolving landscape of gqom, Tristan Arp’s signature insect-inspired soundscape, the emerging Brussels-based artists M I M I and Mika Oki or the trippy, introspective melodies of Konduku and Space Drum Meditation. Maloca, Vol. 2, captures a mind-melting moment in time.

The artwork is by Brussels-based painter Anastasia Bay who’s work presents a renewed vision of the human figure. Oscillating between abstraction and figuration, Anastasia Bay’s work is all about contrast and balance. The choice of a precise fragment of reality in her works dissolves any narration. »
