Born in Bucharest in 1984, Miruna Boruzescu, better known as Borusiade, began DJing in 2002, soon becoming one of the pioneering female DJs in Bucharest’s alternative club scene. With a background in film direction and a keen appreciation for raw electronic sounds, Borusiade blended these passions into distinct, atmospheric musical compositions and DJ sets that made waves in the electronic music landscape.
After relocating to Berlin, Borusiade embarked on a journey of musical experimentation, developing a signature sound that’s both dark and melodic, underpinned by resonant bass lines and hypnotic, immersive themes. Since 2016, Borusiade has released a diverse catalog of critically acclaimed works, including several EPs and three LPs, on internationally respected labels like Dark Entries (US), Ostgut Ton Unterton (DE), Cómeme (MX), Cititrax (US), Pinkman (NL), and Correspondant (FR). This year, they unveil their latest album, The Fall - A Series of Documented Experiences, through Dark Entries, bringing a fresh layer to their evolving sound.
Beyond recorded music, Borusiade extends their talents to interdisciplinary collaborations, composing for theater and contemporary dance, and lending their unique sound design to art installations and experimental films. These collaborations underscore Borusiade’s role as a versatile artist with a vision that transcends the boundaries of traditional music.

COUGHY as a project has it’s beginning at the end of 2009 following a spontaneous performance at an underground location in Bucharest, between Vlad (laptop + samplers) & Ovidiu (guitar + vox), Augustin Nicolae (bass) and Color Nurse (visuals).

The concept of COUGHY was to be an exact opposite of clinging to one particular sound or a tedious rehearsal of prior established songs. Improvisation, spontaneity, obscure cultural influences and a complete and reciprocal trust were to be the principles of this project, and a strong live visual input provided by the visual artist Color Nurse. The result, often unpredictable even to the protagonists, associates freely drones and rhythms, noise and harmony, digital and analog, atmospheric and psychedelic, pop and experiment.

In the summer of 2012, the duo enters the studio to record a 6 hour non-stop session of improv with themes collected from their prior performances. The meticulously edited result represents the eponymous debut material.

Coughy was signed to R&S/Apollo Records(UK) after releasing the material. No other contact was made after this. Afterwards, the band signed with Bucharest based Local Records.

Coughy has opened for acts like Jamie Woon, Factory Floor or No Age, The Raveonettes, Space Dimension Controller and others. Coughy also performed at Rokolectiv Festival 2013 edition alongside artists like Burnt Friedman&Jaki Liebezeit, CUCA Festival in 2014 and in Bern (Switzerland) during Romanian Culture Week 2014.

In april 2016 the project was put to a halt by the members.

This project is the result of music made during the night, while trying to face insomnias, using only a tired voice and a cup of hot tea.

pippiogene is following
