Düsseldorf-based producer Bruno Bleckmann makes a commanding debut on Greyscale with The Bleck Dubs, a four-track journey that merges the precision of German techno with the emotional depth of classic dub atmospherics. Each track carries its own microcosm of rhythm and resonance, presenting a detailed, architectural approach to sound design. Opening with 'Legacy', Bleckmann establishes his aesthetic immediately. This is a dominant, tightly wound beat while a melodic chords cascade that fall between sweeping pads and crisp percussion. It’s darkly hypnotic and full of movement, like machinery in motion beneath moonlight. 'Q16' follows with a more introspective tone, its eerie bell-like melody and subtle acid undertones lending a melancholic air. The arrangement flows effortlessly, expanding into space without ever losing its pulse. 'Revelation' is perhaps the EP’s most striking moment, built around chiming chords and a rhythmic delay pattern that ripples with almost celestial resonance. It’s spatial dub techno at its most refined: pristine yet organic. Closing track 'Raggah Daggah' introduces a contrasting warmth, mixing aquatic echoes and island-tinged percussion with a deep, growling digital bassline that anchors the piece in a submerged groove. Bleckmann’s debut is high-fidelity dub techno where texture and timing are inseparable. The Bleck Dubs is a fluid and deeply atmospheric exploration and expression.

Here, the sand glows with a rust-colored light, the stones look like fossilized comets, and the silence feels like interplanetary space. Standing at the summit, you no longer see Siberia — you see another planet. Altai becomes a mirror of Mars — a place of color, stillness, and immense power. Everything here sounds like the breath of the cosmos, like the vibration of distant worlds.

Vol. 11 Mountain Altai VA is dedicated to that feeling — the boundary between the terrestrial and the extraterrestrial — where nine tracks become transmissions from the Red Planet of Altai.

Marking the 150th edition of the Mood Series, Sonic Buckwit returns for his second appearance with Subcortical, a six-track expedition that blends cerebral rhythm with patient restraint. Each piece feels ideal for the head and the feet. It's an exploration of subtlety and sonic depth that reinforces why this long-running series continues to be a cornerstone of modern dub techno. Opening with 'Echoes of the Limbic', Buckwit works with a delicate percussion and soft, purposeful chords that glide like architecture in sound. They are breezy yet intentional, a gentle introduction and an ideal set opener for any mood-setting DJ. 'Void Groove' follows with a refined touch of house, featuring punchy bass notes and a clean, confident pace. It’s catchy but never forced and it's quirky in tone, classy in delivery. The EP grows darker with 'Synergy Error', where a deep, resonant bassline and eerie textures evoke the feeling of entering a sealed laboratory. The melody soon unfolds into something lush and cinematic, pulling the listener into an otherworldly atmosphere. Magnificent work here from Buckwit. 'Quantumorbis' then shifts the mood, channeling early 2000s Cologne minimalism with its stripped-back dub techno structure, making it great for bridging phases in a DJ set. 'Nervus Vetus' feels like a space voyage rendered in rhythm: echoing chords, percussive micro-details and a faint progressive pulse guiding the journey. Closing track 'Hypnagogic Hallucinations' is both immersive and disorienting, merging a techy groove with a sense of floating unease, as if waking from a lucid dream. With Subcortical, Sonic Buckwit refines atmosphere into narrative form. It’s precise yet exploratory, evoking a feeling that lies between deep space and deep thought. This is once again, proof that even 150 releases in, the Mood Series remains deeply connected to its name.
