Artist: Pedro Capelossi [Refraction Rec / Seven Villas / OHM Series]

For our 9th mix of The Frontier series we welcome Brazilian born, Barcelona based, Refraction Records commander in chief - Pedro Capelossi.

Over the last decade Pedro has forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of atmosphere and rhythm, drawing the lines between global dance cultures without adhering to any fixed formula.  

Pedro is best known for his releases on Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas label. This distinctive label is one which cant be tied down to one particular sound, but tends to float between all things Dub House / Dub Techno / Deep House.

  In 2023 he founded his own musical imprint REFRACTION RECORDS, representing some of the world’s most avant-garde visual artists, designers and musicians. Blurring the boundaries between house, techno and its closely related derivatives.

  For this Frontier mix Pedro has presented a beautifully compiled selection with his signature sound, deep, dubby, atmospheric and emotive throughout. It features a lot of music from Refraction records, with a lot of unreleased forthcoming music. Its a joy to listen to and one we'll be going back to again and again.

Biography:
Kostas Staikos (aka Substak). Greek electronic music producer, was born and raised in the city of Athens. The start of his journey into music began at 2011 when decided to escape a bit from real life & started mixing and producing. His music genres include: Ambient, Dub, Dub Techno, Minimal & Minimal Techno. Over 13 years of production, Kostas has released more than 200 releases on various thematic labels.

X_FR — the sonic identity of Alexander Kotlov, a sound producer and DJ from Novosibirsk, the beating heart of Siberia. As a co-founder and visionary of the label [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB], Alexander is a pioneer of a unique musical movement that channels the spirit of his homeland. Born in 1983, he has journeyed from a passionate love for music to crafting an entire universe of sound — one that leaves no listener untouched. As one of the label's key ideologists, he shapes not only the sound but the very philosophy of contemporary dub techno. X_FR is, indeed, the architect of Siberian sound.

Under the moniker Oldschool_Dubtechno .Producer, in a creative alliance with his brother ENERCUBE, Alexander weaves sonic tapestries where simplicity meets brilliance. Their tracks transport listeners to the soul of Siberian landscapes — rugged, majestic, yet profoundly meditative. The music of X_FR is a true alchemy of sound, where the shadows of basslines intertwine with the tenderness of melodies, and minimalism unfolds into boundless depth. In the work of the two brothers, a rare harmony emerges — the product of a shared vision and familial connection. Their tracks awaken the inner world of the listener, inviting moments of mindfulness and introspection. Biography: 
Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Philip Collet found his love for electronic music in the late '90s, diving deep into the underground scene at the legendary ‘Wally’s Groove World’ record shop. He spent the late '90s and early 2000s spinning raw London tech-house vinyl on turntables, getting lost in the rhythm of the moment. As his journey evolved, so did his sound, blending the warm soul of Detroit with the dubby vibes of techno. Today, his music pulses with filtered chords, atmospheric pads, deep basslines, and a warmth that echoes his inspirations—artists like Delano Smith, Aril Brikha, Greg Gow, Luke Hess, and Confidential Recipe. Always soulful, always deep, Philip’s sound is an invitation to explore the heart of electronic music.
