Alexey continues the unique sound tradition of his label and the entire Russian electronic scene, a tradition that he himself once created. At the same time, he breaks off this tradition and creates a new one.

Pixelord's insane new album "99%" is a mixture of exciting new music that is difficult to frame by genre, which meets nostalgia for classic IDM, breakbeat and trance music. The album brings the tension of the artist's earlier releases to a glorious conclusion and almost to perfection — literally 1% missing.

Remember how you downloaded something from the old Internet from the distant past, but it tended to freeze at the last moment at the last one percent? It's the same with this album. It plunges into nostalgic sounds of electronic music of the past, makes sense in the present and takes this legacy with it into the world of the future, pushes its way through mistakes and bugs.

Over the past ten years, Pixelord has developed its own unique musical style, which is closely related to the sound of the Hyperboloid records, and which is inspired by artists such as Bicep, EPROM, Mu-ziq, Lorn and others. Pixelord's debut album will land on March 31st. 

Places is the culmination of five years of producing as Pixelord for Russian artist Alexy Devyanin (who has gone by Gultskra Artikler, Computer Graphics and other aliases in the past). As Pixelord, he became known for a hip-hop-inspired, broken beat sound over releases for Error Broadcast, Car Crash Set and later, his own Hyperboloid Records, which is also behind Places. 

Inspired by all the cities and venues that Devyanin has visited on tour, the record was conceived as a way to conjure and immortalize his memories of these specific places, from the "dry and shaky techno rattle of Berlin" to the "gaudy and vivid drums of Phuket." The label promises the album is "mellow and lush, yet still rhythmically wild." Beijing, Moscow and Ottawa are some of the other areas profiled on Places. You can stream LP track "Bodø" below.

Berlin is one of the most exciting places. I have been there for a few times, played on Leisure System event in Berghain, celebrated NYE and lost my wallet with all the fee from a gig. But Its all happened in a different times, not one trip. Berlin is definitely a romantic, mellow city, a bit melancholic, very important in electronic music culture and my own music career. On September 23, Pixelord is set to bring his experimental genre-fusion to new LP Human.exe on Hyperboloid Records – merging IDM and futuristic beats into a sequence of conceptual soundscapes. The release’s duality between abrasion and melody is well reflected in its concept, as Devyanin explains: “Human.exe’ is about a robot who wants to be a human but still he is a program, an exe file”.

Opening track ‘Gear Soul’ is a perfect example of the album’s duality, opening with a thickly layered wall of melody built from interlinked streams of chiming synths and crawling LFOs. It later morphs into a corridor of bassy reverberation, channelling the track’s tonal centre to conclude with an industrial D&B template.

“Human.exe” is the new LP taken from cyber-futurism experimental electronic artist Alexey Devyanin aka Pixelord slated for release on the 23th September whilst the first single will be dropped on the 5th August via Hyperboloid Records. Pixelord has garnered previous support from the likes of Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, Thump, FACT, Boiler Room, has played at Berghain, Talinn Music Week, Electric Castle alongside The Prodigy, State-X New Forms with James Blake and Dark Star, toured the US and China extensively, remixed everyone from 813, Machinedrum, Eprom, Herobust, Ryan Hemsworth and released music for tastemaker labels such as Error Broadcast, Leisure System, Infinite Machine and Hit & Hope to critical acclaim.

Alexey explains: “‘Human.exe’ is about a robot who wants to be a human but still he is a program, exe file. The video will be about this particular robot too. My music was always retro futuristic and nostalgic about old computers and systems, this time as well .exe is the reference to my childhood, Idm music, DOS programs and cyber romanticism.”.
