It's been a while since I've created a NEW Chipspeech cover, and this one just came to me a couple nights ago. So I wanted to challenge myself. So this might be one of my favorite Chipspeech covers yet, both in mix and composition! So I hope you enjoy this version of the ICONIC Journey song "Don't Stop Believin" as much as I did making it!

Journey | Don't Stop Believin' [Chipspeech Bert Gotrax Cover]

The music of "Sorrow & Pain" is inspired by the classical piano piece "Sonata for Piano No. 20 in A major, D 959" by Franz Schubert and is Betty's own arrangement.
Portobello Express will once again venture into the interpretation of a piano classic, as they did with 'Unique' - inspired by Tchaikovsky. One of Betty's favourite classical composers is the Austrian romantic Franz Schubert (1797-1828).
This piece is from the composer's last collection of sonatas, written in the last months of his life, between the spring and autumn of 1828. He died of siphilis at the age of 31.  
As so often in the past, 'Sorrow & Pain' was born from a bass line that Betty had dreamed up in the night after studying Sonata No. 20 the previous evening.

Upon hearing the first few seconds, I thought, "here we go, it's going to have a touch of goth..." 
How wrong I was, although I can imagine Siouxsie singing it. But then again, Grace Jones would also do it justice - in a kind of pre-war, Parisian La Vie en Rose style.
There's some blues floating in there ever so gently too. But the song is 'Betty's,' her vocals are a mix of strength and tenderness/vulnerability and I doubt there will be many better releases within the 'indie/unsigned' community this year"

The original idea occurred when I saw a word “Nefelibata” which, in Portuguese,  means a person who is unconventional, dreamy, and detached from the norms of reality, often living in their own creative world; a free-spirited individuals who prioritize their unique thoughts and creativity over societal expectations. 

This I liked.

To make it more pertinent to my own state of mind and my outlook I made it, of course, into Icelandic because, why not? As the original meant literally Cloudwalker it seemed a good idea and suggested the cover artwork too .

Although it is dreamy and detached I did want to emphasise that I occasionally touch down to the realm of normal people and this suggested the instrumentation

FUN FACTS:
* This is a song that Pete never sang a proper studio version of and his vocals were lifted from the very rough demo and cleaned up a bit.
* Well, quite a lot actually. :)
* The original lead guitar had a dirty sound that simply didn't work, but when Zakk used a clean tone, all the parts suddenly sounded good.
* Pete actually deviated somewhat from the lyrics he wrote when he sang this, perhaps due to tiredness or being unable to see the lyrics very well.
* The melody he sings remains the same throughout if you want to try singing along.
* The key changes weave an audible illusion of variations that are not actually there.
* The lead guitar is played on Nicodemus.
* The guitar in the right channel is Barry on the ESP, with Zakk playing the Ice Maiden to the left.
