Last week, we lost the genius that was Henny Vrienten and I had been a lifelong fan of his music.

So in tribute I wrote this song in the style of his band Doe Maar, I initially wanted to write lyrics for it, but it simply didn't come out that way. So I decided instead to make it an instrumental in the style of Doe Maar songs such as "Bella Donna", "Winnetoe" and "De Vrolijke Padvinder"

"Vlindertuin" translates into "Butterfly garden" and I chose that title because of Vrienten mentioning the fact that he loved the butterflies in the garden of his private home in one of the very last interviews he did.

As usual, I played everything myself here.

I've recorded this Elvis song in 2022, just because I like it. 
Elvis Presley recorded it in 1962 for his album "Pot Luck With Elvis (RCA, 1962). He needed only 5 takes and take 5 was the master.

I Feel That I've Known You Forever (Elvis cover)

This I've recorded last year, in 2022. Because it's my favourite 60's Elvis ballad. I love the jazzy crooner vibe it has. 
Elvis recorded the song in July 1963 for the soundtrack of his movie "Viva Las Vegas" at Radio Recorders Studio B in Hollywood. It took 20 takes, and take 20 was chosen to be the master. For the movie version they've overdubbed saxophone (which to me, was not needed).

This is a song I've written in 2020. 
Something I've tried, with strings (violins, viola's en cello's).
It's about how your heroes fall down from their pedestal, any kind of hero, and how things go on from there.

How The Mighty Have Fallen (original song)

Choices was recorded by George Jones, for his "Cold Hard Truth" album in 1999. The original recording was first done by Billy Yates in 1997.
The song has some special meaning to me, in more than one way. With the 10th anniversary of George Jones's passing this year (2023) I thought I'd record my own version of it as a tribute to George.

This is a demo recording for a new upcoming band or project I've been working on. The song is about being born loved and dying alone. Seems dark, but that's how it goes most times. It's like driving an endless highway, no end in sight... until' you reach the end it have no idea how you've gotten there.
