Talia Jimenez aka Tangela is a force to be reckoned with - highly skilled DJ, host of the wonderful ‘Citrus’ on FBI radio and co-founder of a sleuth of boundary pushing events including dstreet, club < and now the newly established minutiae festival. Having these many hats and excelling at them all demonstrates Tangela’s intimate knowledge of her audiences and ability to tailor exceptional experiences accordingly. For dancefloors, that usually means a focus on generating energetic narratives combining enveloping soundscapes, pervasive depth and hypnotic detail to effortlessly guide dancers on spirited expeditions. With deep and diverse involvement in all sections of the electronic music community in Eora and beyond, I’m very excited to chat to Tangela about how she does it all. I first became aware of the Harmony label when they released ‘Natives’ an EP by prolific techno producer Alan Backdrop in 2019. Since this time, I’ve followed their lead, been enchanted by their always impressive musical outputs and enamoured - yet only from afar by their magical parties. Made up of multi-talented individuals, as a collective they coalesce as a group of kindred souls united by a shared wellspring of boundless creativity. Their events are always a spectacle, whether collaborating with the likes of Midgar, Kalahari Oyster Cult and X or running it solo, they have the power and passion to transform almost any space into a uniquely vibrant, community-minded party place. From UNESCO-listed libraries, gymnasiums and forest floors, no event is too big or too out there for Harmony to pull off. Across their music, events and DJ sets, they ooze a sense of profound intent whilst being effortlessly playful. In a world that can sometimes feel unnecessarily, individualistic the Harmony crew continues to shine a light on the power of bringing together our creative minds.

Hello, I’m Kasra. He/him. I’m writing to you from London.

Describe your gear set up in full detail?

At home I have Korg m1, Emu orbit, Xoxbox 303 clone,Tascam portastudio (I also use it to sample tapes), a microphone and some pedals.

Sometimes I take finished songs to a studio I use and run midi through Prophet 7 and Moog voyager to add some movements and layers and replace some of the drums with 808 or 909 if needed.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community? 

A phone-ban on all dancefloors please.

It’s here! The first race week of the 2024 season and with that, the launch of G-FORCE 🏁

Both filled with adrenaline, fast-paced environments and exhilarating experiences, G-FORCE brings Formula 1 and music together by putting the DJ in the driver’s seat. A racing mix series putting DJ’s to the test, G-FORCE’s accompanying Q&A digs into their F1 obsession and musical connection.

Kicking off the season is none other than G-FORCE co-founder Club Fitness who leads us into the Bahrain race weekend. The London-based DJ takes the pole position and leads us through a focused and thrilling mix, opening with a statement of motivation from her favourite driver Lewis Hamilton and leans into that race day anticipation as the mix dials up the tempo.

The first race to be held in the Middle East, Bahrain was introduced to the calendar in 2004 and is one of the few night time races on the calendar. Turn 1 is named after Michael Schumacher who was the first driver to win at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Since then, Lewis Hamilton has the most wins at 5 times and Max Verstappen’s win in 2023 was the first in over 10 years for Red Bull Racing.

As a DJ, producer and live artist NERVE makes and performs a limitless brand of techno that explores notions of drum and bass, breaks, noise, electro, dark ambient, and industrial. NERVE’s live sets are undeniably body music, steely textures punctuated by drum and bass inflicted rhythm workouts capable of whipping any crowd into a frenzy.
