“This edition of Pingipung’s Outsiders residency at Kiosk comes from Peter Presto, the artist who kicked off the label in 2002 with its first release. 

Pingipung 001 was the “Es ist Sommer EP” showcasing four playful Dub Electronica tracks recorded during a hot summer in France. The man behind the project is Nils Dittbrenner who founded the label with this release. 

His DJ mix digs into some influential tunes of the founding days, as well as some gems from the Pingipung catalogue.”

A new backing track for this aria (from a live vocal) that I had done for the Nomi Song documentary.

I found this dub mix on my harddrive. I did it in 2011 (!) as an opener for the shows of the Quasi Dub Development, when we were touring Germany and Denmark. It starts with an "Upsetters" track that unlocked the doors for me, that opened the world into the wonderful wild ways of jamaican mixing. I did some rude scratchy overdubs here with squeaking doors, metal bowls, musique concrete, crazy organs .. pardon me I was young and it was fun ;) The mixing is kinda wild, hope You like it.

BLUMMs DUB Mix for the QDD

On his new album „Songs From Okinawa“ Sven Kacirek searches for traces of a unique, traditional music of the famous Pacific islands in the south of Japan. He has recorded various musicians, amateurs as well as local celebrities and subsequently added his trademark instruments marimba, xylophone and piano. The result is an incomparable album of timeless beauty and elegance. 

This podcast even adds another layer to his journey. He compiled it with Agnieszka Krzeminska, who’s also responsible for the great „Songs From Okinawa“-video clips and a making-of-documentary (see the links below). You will hear traditional music from Okinawa, japanese pop songs taken from vintage 7“-vinyl and, of course, a taste of the new album.

Songs of Okinawa will be released on the 20th of November via Pingipung.

Mein Urgroßbruder bäuerlicherseits hat sich vor nicht allzu ferner Zeit auf die Suche nach der äußerst seltenen Bierblume begeben. Dabei verwechselte er die wundersame Seidenstraße mit der unheildrohenden Death Road. Und da ihm Oktarin und passendes Schuhwerk fehlten, kehrte er unverrichteter Dinge zurück. Einzig ein kleiner Strauß klangfarbener Pflanzen des Wegesrandes sollten an diese Odyssee der Vernebelungen erinnern.
