Francis Harris and Anthony Collins air their Breakaway edits on an exquisite house session.

Since 2012, the New York-based pair have been honing their vision of deep house across a singles on the Scissor and Thread label and their residency at Brooklyn's The Panther Room, gaining the support of DJ Sprinkles in the process. Last year, they released their debut album You Go Girl, which stayed true to the duo's deep house foundations while also exploring dubbier sounds indebted to Basic Channel et al.

Frank & Tony's FACT mix is entirely made up of their own edits, of Mogwai, Herbert, Roedelius and more. "Over the past few years as our sets became more and more focused on a vinyl format", the pair explain, "when faced with non-working turntables, the turn to digital became more and more of a challenge for us. The vinyl we digitized never sounded quite as good and we both had little patience for searching for music with online shops, so most of the time we were playing our own cuts, which, after a while also became tedious."

"As a result, we started making dancefloor edits of music that really inspired us both artistically and personally. These have now become a central part of our DJ performances from the digital side of the spectrum. The list of edits is growing rather exponentially, so we felt that with this mix we would give a little glimpse into this recent approach in our sets. In a way, this mix is a bit of a list of "greatest hits" in our minds, culminating in the ultimate homage to one of the masters, Roedelius."

Grouper's never grooved quite like this, in other words.

Its not often that my sets are recorded but the guys at Downfall were on the ball.

A fairly heavy duty affair, so if you're of a nervous disposition, you might not want to listen.

Not perfect obviously.. live environment and all that..  but from what i remember..not bad.

After a brief poll, a mix of new acid came out top, so being the accommodating typee I thought I'd do one for you.

Its not all brand new, but is new to me.  It's not all pure 303, but a lot of it is. 

A good acid line still affects my brain, the same as if I'm in a club on my armchair although the volumes are probably a little different.  It always has done. It can make hairs stand on end and release endorphins that make me feel better for having listened to it.  

Armchair acid is not directed for the dancefloor, but for the 303 lovers everywhere that appreciate the squelch.

North Carolina's Nadia Khan first appeared to us at Phonica when we heard her excellent release on Brooklyn label Scissor & Thread back in 2018, an exercise in subtlety and restraint, which is a delicate balance in a lot of ambient music. A later cassette only release on Where to Now was another example of  'less is more' and that is definitely the ethos of Nadia's mix for Off The Record.

Back in 1993, I remember standing in Fatcat and John says to me you’ll like this one...  brand new on a French label.  He then proceeded to play Acid Eiffel in it’s entirety.  As a bonus, the Soofle Ep was out at the same time so bought both. What followed was a succession of absolutely essential deep house and acid releases.  At the helm was Laurent Garner, Ludovic Navarre and DJ Deep and Didier Delesalle releasing music on a huge Multimedia stores own dance division of their record label.  The label then changed into F Comm and still managed t release some more amazing music.  I thought I’d put this together as their appears to be some very welcome re-issues on their way.  

Unfortunately, I couldn’t locate some records I wanted to add and some were just too fast but you can get a feel for the kind of stuff i used to buy and the quality that the label was putting out.

Will do Tracklist at some point but mainly consisted of Choice, Shazz, Deepside, Laurent Garnier, Aurora Borealis, Alexkid, Deep Contest, Aqua Bassino, Nuages, Soofle, LN’s, Alaska and Dave Angel

All done in one hit.  There’s a few wobbles and wobbles due to lack of Sync button.  Hope it doesnt detract from the enjoyment of the music.

Reptant’s addition to Bleep’s new mix series is a fine demonstration of the squelching strain of electro that the Australian producer has slipped into the water supply over the past few years. Beginning with a fizzing (and unreleased) soundscape from the producer himself, the rest of this hour-long set deals in the kind of technoid machine-funk mutations that will appeal to fans of imprints like Planet Euphorique and Central Processing Unit. Tunes come from esteemed artists such as Annie Hall, Datassette and Sansibar as well as further productions from @reptant_the_lizard himself - again, some of which are unreleased at the time of writing.

I usually find solace in music but I must admit in the midst of a pandemic lockdown and the racial injustices that followed it was tough to wrap my head around things. I wish I had some powerful words to share but I just have this mix and I hope in someway it gives you a brief moment of solitude. I put together this mix to offer a time-out to forget everything going on in the world today and even if only for a few moments allow yourself to get lost in music.

For this special anniversary edition of my invite series. I am extremely delighted to welcome Rene Wise on to the show. 

Real name “Andrew Shobeiri” has been making some immense progress within the industry so far. With only 2 years on the professional circuit this talented young artist as managed to do some things only other artists can dream of.

With two outstanding releases on Luke Slaters infamous "Mote Evolver" label, as well as two unforgettable shows at Berlin’s world renounced Berghain. Whilst managing to gain the attention of some the best in the scene. But its well deserved for this passionate producer, Spending hundreds of hours carefully creating his unique sound which is infectious with rhythm and pure groove. His dedication and commitment to the music really speaks for it self. Since his arrival he has managed to maintain and adapt to challenging demand of the industry. In return he has been able to travel internationally showcase his sound as far as South Africa and many others places. 

On this episode i asked Rene about his journey so far and what it’s taken for him to get to the top of his game in such a short period of time. Plus he had contributed a guest mix that will dance you through to the early early hours.

Nørbak is Artur Moreira, born is the late nineties, in the North of Portugal. His devotion into making music begins early in his life, and since then, keeps working in his studio, day after day, discovering and developing his own sound, diving into Ambient, Experimental and mainly Techno. 

It all started in 2016 with labels such and Circular Limited and Illegal Alien, where he gave his first steps and since then he has been releasing his music on respected labels such as PoleGroup, Warm Up Recordings, Semantica, Modularz, Affin, Float Records and his sound has developed throughout these years focusing now more on the mental and physical side of Techno, where he finds the most comfort. 

In 2019 he joins the Portuguese independent collective and label Hayes as an active member, where with his label colleagues he’s pushing the new wave of contemporary Techno. 

With appearances in some respected clubs like Tresor, Lux Fragil, Gare Porto and Family Club he also feels supported by some of the most respected artists in the scene like Oscar Mulero, Jonas Kopp, Svreca, Dasha Rush and more. His future can only be brighter than what it is right now, with so many boundaries to achieve, discover, learn and cross.
