Hi, Hope everyone is OK. The world today is like a different world to the one we were in just a few months ago. We are all isolating at home. In the current situation, it's a bit hard for us musicians to make music together in a studio. So I asked them to record their playing instruments to my track in places where they like. Ichiro and Honami recorded at their home studio. Takeshi chose under the highway for his recording studio. I also recorded piano in my studio by myself and did mix. I'll keep releasing my music on bandcamp first.

"The 2nd session" is a version has no clap. "Beats Dub" has no instruments other than beats.

現在コロナの影響で都内のスタジオの多くが閉鎖になっています。またかなりの密閉空間ともなるのでなかなか集まってレコーディングをすることが困難です。しかしそこで音楽制作を諦めてストップするのではなく、何かそこを逆手に取り普段出来ない事をやってみようと思い作った曲です。ベースの藤谷さん、パーカッションの木川保奈美ちゃんは自宅で、僕も自宅スタジオでピアノやその他色々を録音。驚くのはサックス＆フルートの栗原くん。なんと高速道路のような場所の下で録音してきてくれました！でも、すごくちゃんと録音されていて驚きました。通常はエンジニアさんにお願いをするミックス作業も今回は自分で行ってみました。3ヴァージョン収録されています。

We're going a little off piste with something new on SB this week... We welcome returning mad scientist Scruscru with his buddy Mike Fot who came to us with the beginnings of a weird and wonderful new off shoot series called Spliff Jamz. 

Following a series of visits to Moscow between 2018 and 2020 to play at Powerhouse club, Scruscru would swing by Mike Fot’s apartment for a smoke and a jam session, working with a variety of Roland and Korg gear late into the night. The results of these sessions have led to a series of EPs; with the first four tracks ready for your ears right now.

Parisian duo Masomenos deliver their new LP ‘Unidentified Aerial Phenomena’ this May, coming via the Automatic Writing imprint and comprised of eleven originals, several of which feature Amsterdam’s San Proper.
Masomenos have always explored parallel worlds with their music, fusing an amalgamation of influences and bringing into their universe all the humour and kindness they’ve met on their path. Their music, weird and intriguing for some, lively and trippy for others, is like an ongoing story told over more than 15 years of musical production. Alongside the music is their graphic design accompaniment of funny creatures, and mystical figures. In this new opus, they surf the frontier between their club sound and home listening, inviting friends over for the ride. Julien Quentin at the piano, Adrien Boisseau on the viola, and San Proper on vibe & vocals.
Across the ‘Unidentified Aerial Phenomena’ LP Masomenos traverse through a variety of styles, from dynamic, microhouse compositions like ‘Tournicoti’, ‘Ainamor’ and ‘Planet X feat. San Proper’, which bring together bumpy, modulating drums with textural synths and sprinklings of jazz throughout. Also on offer is some heavy dub influence found in cuts like ‘Hollow’, ‘Cleopatra feat. San Proper’ and title-track ‘UAP’ which utilise bubbling stab echoes, swirling atmospherics and heavy doses of sub bass.
The album also sees many weird and wonderful explorations straddling the lines between electronica and house, like the computer game style of opening track ‘Rêve’, acid infused pad driven workout ‘Are You Sure’, cinematic feel of ‘Mystery Unsolved’ and closing cut ‘Daffy’s Land’ which wanders through six minutes of unfolding bass growls, nuanced rhythms and shimmering synth sequences.

Throughout a decade Rico Casazza has developed a name with music that spans multiple genres.
Diversity in music is his core. Nowadays he’s more known for his electro/IDM productions, but he’s also fond of techno, minimal, ambient, and electronica. 

Although saying that an artist “does techno/electro/IDM” is something being heard thousands of times, Rico’s sound has a common characteristic recognised for recurring themes; to best describe it, it has to do with the nostalgic, melodic, ominous, deep music that brings you inside, yet is very energetic.

Having released about 19 EPs, 6 full albums, 15 remixes and more to come, composing music is his core force. 

His carefully crafted sound has found home in Prague’s Moving Pictures label, in a form of a solid 4-tracker vinyl EP. Dive into its four chapters: “Emptiness Form” for a melancholic acid trip, “Ultramarine” for an aquatic techno-submarine immersion, or visit “Praslega” - an obscure yet lush sonic construction, along with “Jan25” - a mellow moody anthem.

Following the success of Holo’s groove-driven debut Atlas EP, he’s back with another dreamy 3-tracker on Lost Palms.

Drawing from pop, classic rock, acid and 90’s hip hop, he has managed to hone a truly idiosyncratic sound which at once is recognisable and takes you by surprise. For their final release of 2018, Planet E present DJ Deep & Traumer's remixes of Klauss & Craig, the collaboration between Argentinian synth ensemble Klauss and Carl Craig, which debuted with the ‘Momentum’ EP earlier in the year.

Out November 30th, the three-track remix EP’s origins were as a pair of spec mixes by DJ Deep (Cyril Etienne) and his regular collaborator Roman Poncet aka Traumer. The duo found inspiration from the original Klauss & Craig EP that led to spontaneous experiments on their own remixes.

Soon a trio of versions emerged, with two by the duo together, and an additional solo mix by Poncet under his Traumer alias. Etienne sent their work to Craig, who immediately decided to give them their own release on Planet E, in turn helping Etienne achieve one of his own dreams to release on the legendary Detroit label.

Weaving intricate percussive themes with analogue melodies they deliver two takes on ‘Repeat After Me’ - ‘Free Your Mind’ and ‘Free Your Soul’ - before Traumer, inspired by the process, goes on his own for the final track ‘Repeat After Me - Reduced Mind’, creating undulating bass loops which glide under warm pads.

June 19th is Juneteenth, an often overlooked but momentous day in American history that marks the emancipation of African-Americans from slavery. To commemorate it, I'm releasing my new single, 'Jumpteenth'. 

For the incredible significance which it holds, Juneteenth is a holiday that passes each year without much fanfare. You would imagine the streets overflowing with ecstatic song and dance, people in celebration of their freedom, unity, and evolution. But for most, it seems to be little more than a name on the calendar marking an event that we all wish was never necessary. 

African-Americans may deem it unworthy of attention, being all too aware of the continued process of protecting our freedom. For the rest of society, its going unnoticed is largely attributable to simple ignorance, and, sadly but truly, downright animosity in some cases too. In spite of that, though, it seems to me that Juneteenth would easily assume its position as one of the most important days of the year were it to be openly acknowledged for what it really is; the beginning of modern American culture. It’s the real Independence Day. 

Too often Black history and culture are exploited when enjoyable and ignored when unpleasant, both at home and abroad. But whether consciously or not, the innumerable people worldwide who daily enjoy the endless cultural contributions of Black people will always be imbibing the unique energy of the Black experience, stemming from all of its interchangeably beautiful and tragic truths and contradictions. 

Juneteenth is an occasion to celebrate both the liberation of a specific people in a specific country, but also and more importantly the freedom, individualism, and creativity that exploded into the world at large as a result of it. It’s a celebration of our capacity for change, and should be a reminder of how much unexpected beauty can emerge from the better angels of our nature prevailing.
