The office was busy and crowded, he felt as if everyone was looking at him, staring and watching his every move. Was it warm in here? Was he sweating? The nerves were starting to get to him as he paced edgily in the long queue. The bell rang and he walked slowly forwards, the pressure was rife. Soon he would be known as something else, a chance to become a wonderful new person with a wonderful new name. A namechanger, a shapeshifter and a fresh start. It was all he'd ever wanted. 

RFR Records have announced the release of a dynamic remix package in what is the second edition of the 'Bavarian Stallions Remix Series'. It features alternate versions from Hrdvision, Joannes and Rydim. Our favourite however, comes in the form of a reimagined version from Orson Wells.

Quarantinas - Isolation Chamber

The Space Between Us return in 2020 with the second instalment of their local artists compilations, entitled "Hybrida" - named after the first flower to bloom in outer space.

All artists on the release are Brisbane-based, and the 8-track release spans a range of sounds - showing a cross section of the city's exciting musical fabric.

Opener, "Europa" is a bright bubbly fusion of breakbeat and electro synth-pop, followed by downtempo breaks (and Australiana vibes) of "Acid Walk Through Minyon Falls".

"Proto Psy Werkout" is high energy trance-infused techno fit for a heaving dancefloor, as is the highly percussive "Spring Inevitably Turns To Fall".

Trippy, dubbed out breaks feature in "When I'm Gone (Break Mix)", while "Transport" is a trip hop journey with a hypnotic acid line throughout.

"Marvie" explores a darker energy with more experimental arrangement, while "AREA 1" takes the listener to a feeling of weightlessness, as if floating through the stratosphere.

Previously established as an event and podcast series based in Dublin, Yin Yang signifies its next step with a vibrant compilation of tracks which touch on dark undertones of techno right through to brighter mutations of DnB, hard-hitting jungle, futuristic electro and beyond.

Spiralling dark rhythms from Blue Hour, Gritty and unease mutation from Mutant Joe, cosmic melodies from SAAH, futuristic sounds from False Persona, D&B goodness from Ani Klang and Kessler, screwface techno from Rune Bagge and Offtrack and many more have come in strong to signify a resounding turning point in Yin Yang’s trajectory.

The compilation breathes in tandem with the listener and offers a slant in the shadows of what else is to come on Yin Yang’s schedule. Available in digital format, ‘Complex Contrast’ leaves a lasting impression with its interpretation of organised chaos, resulting in a perfect blend of kinetic and palpable energies to the end.

PREMIERE: Low Tape - The Rhythm Of My Life [Yin Yang Label]

Adam Pits lands next for a debut on X-Kalay as one of the most talked about new producers circulating the UK underground. Based in Leeds, Pits has already attracted the attention and support of established players such as Subb-ann, Call Super and Ciel and left countless others scrambling to chase down his energetic club centric productions.

With his style drawing on the best elements of proggy house, breaks, trance and techno he delivers a solid EP for X-Kalay of driving club rhythms, UK bass and tranced out euphoria; the maturity of his craft seeming to belie this young producer’s relatively modest age.

We premiere title track “Piston Pump”, which provides something a little different than what we've come to expect with Adam's productions - yet demonstrating his broad flex to hit every corner of the dance floor. This cut errs on an almost video game-esque soundtrack tip, Duke Nukem style - slowly chugging its way through dystopian pixels and blocky future formations. It's also well worth listening to the mysterious Magicwire artist Bliss Inc. remix of this, flipping the downtempo vibes into a chugged out trancey peak time banger.
