Lead track - 'Take You There' shows the pair building on their progressive, melodic sound with hooky vocals, weaving synth lines and of course - epic strings! 

'Runaway' is a more relaxed affair, with subtle piano chords transitioning into a warm bass-line under sweeping orchestral parts and an emotive vocal. This piece is a real journey from an understated intro to it's euphoric peak.

These two records show why King & Early are fast becoming a very exciting artist in the world of melodic house & techno.

King & Early - Runaway

The new EP on Saturn Return is produced by Rowee and Nuiton and is a quality piece of music. ‘Lost Forest’ is a surreal march through a range of metaphorical textures. Endless permutations of rhythm, beat, percussion and a caustic voice are the main elements for more than 10 minutes. An additional acid synth finally emerges, breaking the rules of the beat. It’s romantic, hypnotic and strikes the perfect balance between angular rhythms and dreamy melodies. ‘Description of a Dream’ exudes ethereal patterns and nature like sounds. The prominent bassline includes plenty of water drops and build ups... this track seems to stretch out endlessly into the distance.

Fur Coat’s Oddity label starts 2021 with a fresh edition of the acclaimed various artists “Odd Echoes Vol.4”. This instalment showcases some artists that are already known to the label, as well as many new additions to the family.

Fur Coat’s commitment to their label over the last few years has seen the imprint amass a dedicated following and an ever growing list of respected and lauded releases. Utilising their Various Artists compilations, the duo have unearthed some extremely exciting talent in this world and given emerging artists a platform to exhibit their craft.

Diving into the package we are greeted with the melodic and emotional sounds that Oddity has their recognisable stamp. Its clear though that each artist involved has developed their own signature sound and presents something unique to the VA. The first half is formed of well crafted tracks which ease us into the sound. Tracks the build and develop over time and help to kick start out musical exploration.

In true Oddity style the second half of the package leans towards darker and more driving pieces. Casting the listeners mind to the dancefloors which the tracks were meant to be played on. Its a VA formed of 21 original tracks mostly from first timers on the label, that all together solidify the identity of the series and sound of Oddity.

Daria Kolosova - the prime example of Kiev techno scene staying strong. She's been a vital part of the scene for a couple of years now and doesn't limit herself to playing only in the local clubs. Daria is both a promoter and a resident of the Materia promo group which regularly organizes techno parties in Kiev and other cities in Ukraine with some major international DJs such as Headless Horseman, Conforce, Juras Lietus, Nicola Kazimir (Les Points), Robert Dietz etc. Not limited to one particular style, she is able to select extraordinary tracks from various electronic music genres and put them together to create something new. She is also known under a nickname DAR:K. Recently she has been invited to perform at the largest electronic events at Funkhaus/Berlin, Tresor/Berlin, Arena/Berlin, Rex/Paris, Fabric/London, Warung/Itajaí and festivals as Strichka/Ukraine, Ostrov Festival/Ukraine, Sunwaves/Romania

Ian McDonnell is an Irish producer living in Wicklow near Dublin. Alongside his solo releases as Eomac he's also one half of the duos Lakker, noeverything and Lena Andersson.

'Cracks' represents a change of scenery and a change of practice from his previous two albums which were both conceptualised from the outset and recorded while living in Berlin. In contrast 'Cracks' was made in a beautiful rural part of Ireland without any outside pressure. These circumstances allowed Ian to wipe the slate clean and make an album guided by his mood on any particular day, connecting into the subtle power of his new environment and reflecting it, rather than working to please the suffocating demands of clublife. The title 'Cracks' comes from the idea that, to quote Leonard Cohen, a crack is "how the light gets in", but also of course it's a title that bears witness to the cracks fomenting in the world right now.

The music comes across with depth and passion, sounding deep and mossy with Eomac's penchant for punchy, shuffling drums underpinning the emotive tracks. From the off, the furious 'Mandate For Murder' flips and repeats Akala's protest about systemic racism, rushing deep into the panicked sirens of 'Portuguese Man O' War'. The album settles into a sense of mystery, wildness and dark otherworldliness with the foggy drone and timber kick of 'Ancient Self' reflecting the awe and spiritual connections to his new environment, much like the gorgeous strings and aqueous bleeps of 'Seashells' or the pitch-shifted shoegaze of 'Prophetess'. At other points it responds to the human condition, for instance the cathartic 'Falling Through the Cracks' where a broken scream is pitted against clattering drums. At other moments it simply reaches out; 'Reasons to Live's' whispered mantra of "I know you are loved by somebody" is gently insistent.

It ends with a reference to a place he's left behind, seen through the lens of nature. 'All the Rabbits in the Tiergarten' could be a missing track from Aphex's Ambient Works, albeit with cut-up scissoring drums. The album is a fruitful move, inwards and forwards.
