Spada is back, with a new club dress and with a turn in between deep and tech house. It’s a new sound, where dance atmospheres are wrapped up with gloominess and mystery. Guitars get it started; then the track goes through synths and trombone. It’s a journey, from the underground to the big audience. And Pete Tong just started it with an exclusive and worldwide premiere on BBC Radio 1.

The DJ and producer of “Catchfire (Sun Sun Sun)”, “Feels Like Home (Red Velvet Dress)”, “Cool Enough”, who already remixed Robin Schulz, Klingande, ZHU, Roger Sanchez, Fritz Kalkbrenner, once again proves himself as one of the most innovative and original names in the dance scene. Spada’s music takes wing from Italy and is spread all over in the world. Now it’s floating in space too, with this “Lost in Space”.

You would be very hard pressed to find two more universally venerated individuals within the Australian dance music community. In an attempt to spare you the enthusiastic fanboy eulogies, we will say that Xavier & Smart have for a LONG time been 2 important ingredients in the glue that holds the Sydney underground together and keeps it honest. From ecstasy drenched stadiums headlined by Infusion, to the legendary hedonism of Tweekin, these boys have been working on the drum sounds with much patience since the beginning. In case you didn't know already, Motorik! is honoured to present: Francis Xavier & Phil Smart - Way Down (Underground). 

The music: 
Way Down (Underground): The sorcerers are at their mind-warping best on this 10 minute journey. Perpetual motion has finally been achieved, thanks to some of the most delicious drum programming we've heard in while. This is a deep, percussive journey that is as soulful as it is driving. Pure 3am magic!

'Bumblebeez' producer and frontman Christopher Colonna - Australia’s answer to Pablo Picasso - steps out to the world with an extended player of pure, unadulterated sonic imagination that perfectly represents the ethos of Multi Culti's vibe. 
 
Largely written and produced in the backwoods of Hackney in 2014 and refined at the ‘BBZ HQ Braidwood 2622,’ the songs take cues from all over the place: classical composers, trips to South Africa, the electricity of the Diwali festival, peace of mind, French women recalling their sexual nightmares, yearning for the Outback & Global roaming. Layers of tropical sounds, a collection of myriad samples & bedroom beats all at play together in an alternate reality. These uncut diamonds were previously unreleased, but an early version of Ghana was included on Multi Culti Japan, which got support from Roman Flügel, Erol Alkan and Boris Dlugosch, among others. Exoticaspeakerjam was also exclusively featured on Tiga’s BBC Radio1 mix.

It's useless to categorize, and difficult to describe, but what matters most is that the listen is warm and rewarding. It's dense with ideas, but the whole thing is wrapped up in a light-hearted charm that feels extra-precious today.
