Long-time friend of the label Plesk Parallel makes her way to All Centre to release a sublime double tracker. On Spit Fountain, Plesk Parallel revitalizes her sound with a pair of transcendent, explorative club tracks.

Spit Fountain opens as a CR-78 drum machine workout heavily manipulated by masterful sound design. Drum clicks reverberate across a cavernous space charted by booming sub-low kicks. A disorienting melody enters the fray in the latter half of the track, reminiscent of AFX b-sides and microtonal experiments.

Morpho shifts into a more mechanical, to-the-grid groove with rigid kick drums and earworm percussion. Drawing on 90s & 00s broken techno, Plesk Parallel puts her own spin on these conventions, augmenting the style with perfected sound design, hypnotic pads and a heavy, dubbed-out bassline.

Spit Fountain is available on all digital platforms from November 10th.

Rising UK talent @dyslecta arrives on Scuffed Recordings with three new hybrid UK techno tracks, backed with a heavyweight remix from @henzotrax.

On his ‘Eating Woodlice’ EP, Dyslecta continues his artistic growth with three tracks exploring different BPM ranges and production techniques, fused by his love of techno and other UK dance music genres.

Describing the EP as being ‘testament to what you can do with the most limited amount of samples and kit’, the release sees Dyslecta unifying a broad range of production techniques while maintaining a recognisable sonic backbone throughout.

Grunts, squeaks, whistles, rumbles and growls accompanied by a fast-paced rumble that will have the techno player, the tekker, the gabber, the frogger, the hardcorer, the mushroomer, the popper and of course the hybridclubber and the postclubber. :))

Miasma was born on the outskirts of Mexico City, a place overwhelming and overloaded with stimuli. Rian Treanor’s “Obstacle Scattering EP” arrives in a flurry of disorienting rhythmic bursts and de-purposed rave hallmarks. The four-track EP follows the Yorkshire producer’s acclaimed “File Under UK Metaplasm”, an album that welded elements from the UK’s sprawling dance music history with genre-breaking sounds from further afield. Here, Rian goes straight for the jugular with four tracks assembled specifically for the dancefloor.

Playing with “the idea of sound being an obstacle that you have to get your body around,” each track on the EP presents a suite of complications for adventurous ravers. ‘Obstacle 1’ folds the influence of SND into a hi-nrg singeli framework, simmering lush FM synths in a broth of tangled kicks; ‘Obstacle 2’ was written for Rian’s set at 2019’s Aphex Twin-curated Warehouse Project and distills his early obsession with Planet Mu in hyperactive squelches that deftly flit between brutalist glitches and ear-pummeling bass. Meanwhile irradiant chords continuously refract a bouncing 4×4 groove on ‘Obstacle 3’, subtly shifting the focus as they alternate and interlock. Closer ‘Obstacle 4’ switches things up once again, deploying the idea of pause and effect with staccato stabs that follow whirls of modulated synth.

These four obstacles are DJ tools with spikes – selected grooves that don’t fit anywhere except together, mapping out Rian’s constantly-shifting relationship with both the club and the legacy of boundary-pushing dance music. They feverishly demonstrate the outer limits of a streamlined sonic palette, devastating speakers and dancefloors in equal measure.

The archive book is a culmination of all the moving parts that make up Club Chai at once – a way to honor the project's complexity and intimacy. A way to honor the project's complexity and intimacy. How do we remember and archive something that is really made up of a fleeting feeling? Being on the dancefloor with friends, singing in unison or zoning out in complete bliss. It feels right to create something physical that can be held, touched and encountered slowly and 
carefully. Making this book entirely with friends makes it feel even more intimate and special.
