U R NOT ALONE invites the Berlin based duo Planet Vokes for a stunning dystopian ambient set. 

Both they are the producer Planetary Echoes and and producer & vocalist Janet Vokes. It brings together two artists from very different parts of the world, with similar inspirations but with very different musical approaches
He is caribbean raised in Italy and she is Argentinian raised between Israel and Spain. 

They moved to Berlin to be free to be themselves, establish their musical identity and find everything it has to offer: from madness to quiet of all types. Strong club-friendly percussion mixed with hypnotic melodies take the listener to the edge of a meditative state whilst keeping them dancing and connected with the groove of the record. Their sound is bold but elegant, shaped by finely crafted irregular landscapes made of voices singing and waving in the middle of the mass. Fluctuating soothing pads and drones are sustained by the dark grey tones of fresh black concrete drums.

Their influences come from the dance floor & visual arts. Trip hop, Psychedelic music and Ambient are their essential tools.“Strong negative emotions like sadness & nostalgia are important for us
because they contrast and merge well with love and happiness but we embrace the discomfort of these feelings because they’re broken and make people think and listen.” 

Their mixes are above all danceable & without the limitations of genre.The music exists to create a vibe of self-understanding and reflection where listeners find themselves entering a sensual, inward focused dance on an internal full body trip. They need to tell you that there is something serious going on, deep behind all this drunk beauty of darkness. A dramatic veiled story that is meant to be understood. As well as their mixes, their tracks show an elegant piece of art made with the rudest materials on the rudest way. Always broken instead of twisted.

OFF THE RECORD ist eine Reihe von Listening Sessions, die 2017 aus einer Initiative von Interkultur Ruhr, Kalakuta Soul Records (Bochum) und der Labelmanagerin und Residentin im Programm von Interkultur Ruhr Avril Ceballos(Cómeme)hervorgegangen ist und in einer Kooperation mit dem Atelier Automatique fortgeführt wird.

Unter dem Titel FOR THE RECORD stellen Guy Dermosessian (Kalakuta Soul Records) und Eva Busch (Atelier Automatique) die Gastmusiker*innen und -DJs der Reihe mit Interviews und fantastischen Mixtapes persönlich und musikalisch vor.

Jannis Stürtz, Gründer des Labels Habibi Funk Records, war am 24. März 2017 zusammen mit Ernesto Chahoud bei OFF THE RECORD / Listening Session #1 in der Goldkante Bochum zu Gast, wo es unter anderem um Jazz, arabische und äthiopische Musik ging. Exklusiv für diesen Beitrag hat er einen speziellen Mix produziert.

Their sound is about groove and different soundscapes dancing to
the arrhythmic feedback of cold landscapes.
Walking with strong concrete blocks within an apocalyptic scenario
kick and bass play with the dark and light.
