Kickstarting the Voyages to Plantera is Brussels-based Robin Genton, aka STDJ. An active member of the Who's Playing? collective, they bring an hour of conscious-expanding sounds. 

Translating to 'Wild Coast', this contribution is inspired by a rave experience Robin has recently had; playing at a party in a forest environment aside the sea. Forwarding this experience into the world of Plantera. 

"This set plays on a wide stretch of land forming a beach bordered by dunes and pine forests. It gives sight on an estuary, a lighthouse, and faraway ships. The pine trees move in a breath-like manner as the wind blows through them. The Milky Way slowly becomes visible as night falls, and the Moon provides just enough light for dancers to find their way."

Leading Voyage 002 to Plantera is Naarm/Melbourne-based psy-digger, Alex Cicchini aka Don Chich. A phenomenal collector & selector whom we gravitated towards after discovering his 'Mystical Experiences' series. Dive deep into the realms of his extensive record collection. 

Buckle up, Let Go. This one elevates into higher states of consciousness. 

"The Pilgrimage begins in the depths of the cold sea as you float through sprawling coral reefs. You break to the surface; light fills your world as waves cascade and encapsulate you. You journey onwards to the land ahead; vegetation grows ever closer with each step. The scenery changes - water turns to murky mud and mangroves spill across the land as you trudge through the unforgiving swamp. Things turn dark as the trees above close and crows begin sing; there is no turning back you must go on. 

The swamp begins to fade and trees become dense. Wild fauna consumes the earth and flora runs rampant as tribes of animals emerge; you are just a visitor in the Rainforest. Something bites you and your senses begins to change; sound becomes colour and colour becomes sound - Ineffable and mystical experiences of the mind, body and soul.

You awake from your trance; where have you been, what have you seen and how far have you travelled? The forest is no more as the sun beats down, the trees have turned to orange sand and snaking dunes cover the barren land. The desert winds whisper your name; are you delirious or is it God? Is it salvation or is it a mirage? The only sure answer is to continue onward.

Mountains appear in the distance and you sense freedom from the hostile land; a restored faith gives you energy to push forward. You begin your ascent to higher ground in hopes to see civilization and trek the rocky and shrubbery façade. This is the hardest feat yet, your strength wains on this climb towards the peak, but something wonderful, something unexplainable carries you on. You peak the summit; ahead of you is life and civilization, behind you are the landscapes traversed on this journey. It is now time to find rest, peace and reflection before you begin the next chapter of your Pilgrimage" - Don Chich

The fourth instalment of the Voyages mix series is lead by Ukrainian-born, Warsaw based @shjva who's warping production and tripped-out selections have spent hours ringing around our ears at base camp. 

With releases spanning a breadth of contemporary psychedelic soundscapes, notably the self-released 12-tracker 'zemlia', we were delighted when they agreed to take the reigns on a Voyage on Plantera.

Shjva lays down a shamanic journey of ritualistic hypnosis through the ripples of space and nature.

The fifth instalment of the Voyages mix series puts @hanndmusic firmly in the pilot seat, setting off straight to Plantera HQ.

With Dan first catching our eye at parties with the Down to Earth collective in Bristol (namely an Underwater set in a tiny basement💦) we decided we had to give the Comma Traxx head the reigns for a Voyage.

Strap in for deep, driving hypnosis from eery to etheral, with no stone inbetween left unturned.

"A lone traveller emerges from their crash-landed ship upon Plantera, uncertain of what land is before them and what mysteries await. Through the dense, purple mist a marshy woodland appeared. A luminous curiosity pulses from the forest that surrounds this lone wonderer, inviting them to explore with aimless enthusiasm.

Taking them through thick fog bewilderment with shimmers of panic2, enducing sporadic segments of sprinting for safety. Morphing through lucid curiosity into dark and dense dashes of adrenaline; always questioning 'where am I?' somehow their thoughts echoed off the surrounding trees, thick of reverberating thought bubbles. 

Despite a desire to feel scared, the wonderer somehow felt comforted by the surrounding vast atmosphere of Plantera. Ascending to the utopic tree city that inhabits the fog land, the local colony offers nourishment and peace to rest with ease, only a taster of the endless beauty that Plantera can offer"

The 6th contribution to the Voyage series is gifted to us by the mesmerizing Monoke; or as we are so blessed to know her as, Ellie Gillan. 

A pure and spiritual being; whose essence is communicated through their immense track selection and ability to curate. 'Zion' embarks on a journey led by the drum, synthesizing a ritualistic ceremony with a trajectory towards celebration.

A deeply moving story, enriched with an empirical perspective. Ellie communicates this story via the vehicle of fantasy, creating an enthralling new environment on Plantera; the cave of Zion.

"I had heard whispers of a surreal existence of Zion on Plantera. A place where people are synced with the ritualistic nature of the drum. Recreating ceremonies that our ancestors would draw people together with. Dancing with their spirits and the impenetrable bind between the community. 

Carelessly, a lonely path was one I had taken these last few years, but something sparked within me that it was time to find my people. 

I kept this glimmer of hope in my mind as I wander aimlessly amongst the sand and sun for days. There are no nights on this side of Plantera. 

A mound slowly appears in the distance. As I near closer it begins to block the sun, giving me relief from the piercing light. As my eyes adjust, I edge forward and feel a cool sharp sensation.

A sheer glisten catches my eye and dances into the distance. She feels familiar. I aimlessly follow her through the depths of these shallow rock caves. Feeling this light had given me a hope for something. 

I halt and see if my eyes can adjust to what lies ahead. She notices the halt and glides towards me, floating on the cold misty air. I reach to touch her, to see if she was real or if my imagination had taken over my vision, and she whisked herself away. 

I feel the warmth of her trail - a spirit of Plantera. An auburn shade begins to climb the wall of rock surrounding me. Harmonies play with my eardrums and my heart starts to open with relief, a sign of life. Yet, so much more was ahead than I ever could have imagined. 

As she disappears through the cave walls above, I allow the light and sounds to guide me. A warm glaze reveals a deep opening at the foot of the cave. I see hazily through the veil; fire, surrounded by other beings. Beings like me. 

Music beats from the heart of the fire, her flames change from white to orange. Embodiment; it was as if the rhythm of flame controlled each beat. Never had I witnessed such conscious movement before.  

The whispers of Zion were true. 

As I try to enter through the veil, a resistance holds me back. The veil starts to solidify and won’t allow me through. Heads begin to turn towards me, making their way to where I stood. I stay firmly put, unsure as to what they were about to do. 

Hands permeate the veil, beckoning me to take hold. After a few moments of hesitation; I remember how after such solitude, I found trust. 

I reach forward and tender, soft hands slowly pull me forward. Kind and loving faces look upon me as if we were lost friends aiming to
 find our way back to each other. But now we had found home. We all smile and walk towards the fire together, holding onto one another in a warm embrace. 

I thought about the spirit, and whether she had brought us all here one by one, knowing that this is where our people were. Bringing us back to Zion, a place where you find your community after being lost for so long. We all join together in dance and celebration, being led by the beat of the drum. 

I had heard the whispers of a surreal existence of Zion on Plantera. I now know how much more this was than the tales told, as no-one can understand a feeling until they have felt it. A gift that your heart can give to you and others. And when it is shared, it grows amongst people and can save you more than you think." - @monokedj

Greg is a multi-medium artist based in Bristol, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to self expression. Whilst consistently exploring various realms of his craft, Greg's style and taste resonates deeply with ourselves at Plantera HQ.

Running the inspirational label 'Common Ancestors', and consistently producing insanely emotive music; it was an intuitive decision to ask him to narrate the next Voyage to Plantera.

Between extended sets displaying vinyl mastery & flirtatious snippets of silly production on socials, it's fair to say we were hooked by our virtual cahonies!!!

Now making ripples amidst dancefloors via their intimate London-based party series 'Splitloop'.

“This mix was intended to be played at a music festival called 'Mach 1' on the land of the Djab Wurrung and Jardwardjali people in Australia, but was cancelled due to bushfires. 
In the mix, there is a meditation I wrote referencing bushfires in Gariwerd Country, and a unique mushroom (Pyronema Omphalodes) which only appears after a bushfire. 
Fire is an integral part of the Australian landscape, with many species depending on it for reproduction. However, the Western way that land is managed, in combination with climate change, means catastrophic bushfires are becoming more frequent. 
Aboriginal knowledge of caring for Country needs to be tapped into to reduce the devastation that bushfires bring. Cultural burning means applying fire in a way that is best for the entire ecosystem, not just for people, but for animals, plants, and fungi. Visit firesticks.org.au to learn more.

for this voyage however R.E.D navigates through the gloopy ebbs and flows of the enchanting swamp; portraying sways of emotion but encouraging calm & grounding to ascend toward the glowing light.
