Our Brooklyn-Amsterdam connection has been growing stronger each day in the past few years. The bond our platform has with artists and labels from Amsterdam is truly special. The amount of talented artists and quality music that emerges (almost feels like daily) from the vibrant Dutch scene is mind-boggling. In that type of environment you really need to do something original and of high quality to get recognized. One of the record labels that has been on a steady rise since their initial release in 2017, Kalahari Oyster Cult seems to be making all the right moves. For all good reasons, Kalahari Oyster Cult is considered as one of the most exciting imprints nowadays which pushes the boundaries of electronic music with each new release and is home to artists like Roza Terenzi, Erell Ranson, Cleveland, A Psychic Yes and Reptant to name a few. 

The mastermind behind all this is Rey Colino, DJ and curator, whose mixes have been on heavy rotation in our HQs. In 2020, Colino started a new project - a vinyl-focused distribution service One Eye Witness. The project acts as a missing link between record labels and artists that share similar philosophies and provides them with a foundation to further develop. By being the main curator for both Kalahari Oyster Cult and One Eye Witness and with the amount of quality music that goes through his hands on a daily basis, Rey Colino is a perfect addition to our 'Delayed with...' series. 

The mix Colino made for us is a brilliant, feel-good energetic voyage that features tons of forthcoming releases. Technically immaculate with a great vibe all over, this mix is one of the best we heard this year. Hats off, Rey Colino!

A label that needeth no introduction, Tywi's Haŵs has been curating the finest selection of party starters since Vol 1 in 2018. The label's artist awareness has led to an undeniable consistency; prevalent in their latest release featuring Rudolf-C, Lisene, DJ Life and Nathan Pinder. Kickstarting the Voyages to Plantera is Brussels-based Robin Genton, aka STDJ. An active member of the Who's Playing? collective, they bring an hour of conscious-expanding sounds. 

Translating to 'Wild Coast', this contribution is inspired by a rave experience Robin has recently had; playing at a party in a forest environment aside the sea. Forwarding this experience into the world of Plantera. 

"This set plays on a wide stretch of land forming a beach bordered by dunes and pine forests. It gives sight on an estuary, a lighthouse, and faraway ships. The pine trees move in a breath-like manner as the wind blows through them. The Milky Way slowly becomes visible as night falls, and the Moon provides just enough light for dancers to find their way."

"This mix brings together the club music aesthetics I like to listen to and play at the moment, it's a fusion of new releases and trance pépites from the 90s and 2000s. I really like the different shades of progressive trance mixed with incisive broken beats, emotional-melodic breaks and bass lines that keep the groove going. 

I recorded it in my studio for a whole afternoon and I danced a lot while doing it! I recommend listening to it to energize yourself while walking in the city or very loud at home to dance on your bed."

@hawasarita is one of the many aliases of the ever talented and ever-evolving Sarah Gamrani, a poetess and the cavernous vocals of duo @baaraakaa.

Bolam is someone who has been on our radar for some time. Hailing from the Shetland Islands and now based in Malmö, he has been making waves in the local scene, as well as picking up a lot of traction with his own music and Earworm podcast series. 

Having released tracks with our good friends Holding Hands as well as 2 EPs on Space Dust, his varied and technical production style sits somewhere between breaks, trance and tech house. As well as his skills as a producer, he's a fantastic DJ with a commitment to digging deep - this mix is testament to that!

Rotation 036: Bolam

For Rotations 26 we have Activator — the newly formed project from two Naarm DJs Jaevin aka Vitamin DJ / @vitamin_D_J  and Clay aka Toorak Cowboy / @claywaddell.

Two of the most warm and vibrant lovers of the Naarm music scene, both Jaevin and Clay's infectious energy translates into their sets which are pure, unadulterated fun.

Progressive, trancey and with a little euro-house flava, this mix is nearly 2 hours of non-stop energy with a few unreleased local tracks ;)
