Challenge was to make one of my shorter songs with one of my longer lyrics, so I 'had' to craft it into an amalgam of 9/4 and 4/4 signatures. Thus, it may feel crazy on verses but I hope also catchy on refrains.

Letra / Translated lyrics:

Sólo pido no tener deseos (Ya no quiero imaginar)  /  I ask only not to have desires (I don’t want to imagine anymore)

¿Puedes explicarme qué es lo que me pasa?  /  Can you tell me what happens to me?

Quítame el don de la inteligencia,  /  Take the gift of intelligence from me,
pues si no pensara tanto, sería feliz.  /  because if I didn’t think so much, I would be happy.

estoy a disgusto con mis sentidos.  /  I get displeasure from my senses.

(I want to preface this post with a quick note that this was supposed to be my Winter Holiday musical offering.... but this song clearly had other plans. My creations tend to be an enigma, until my heart discovers the right instruments to define them.)

Hopefully you're familiar with the term 'Pick Your Poison'; an old phrase used when you are presented with an abundance of drink choices at your local bar.

This song is about wrestling with dissatisfaction, a condition made more obvious during this 'joyous' time of the year. I hear it in the conversations I have with friends and family. And I see it in the faces around me. Many people are overwhelmed and disheartened by the noise and chaos that surrounds us. And many of us choose to numb ourselves to this reality, using our 'poison of choice', rather than face that noise.

A dear friend of mine (and one of the wisest folks I know) suggests that negativity (frustration, anger, fear, sadness) is a tool for awakening; a strangely packaged gift from our higher awareness, designed for our growth. And rather than numbing ourselves to our pains, we should be facing them head-on; using them to challenge our beliefs and perspectives, to identify why we're not satisfied. 

I know my frustration is a direct result of my expectations, in contrast with how things just are. Reality is what it is, and my resistance causes my suffering. So I, like many of my dear friends out there, focus on the positive to the best of my ability. And on the nights when I just can't see my way clear, I pop open a can (or 3) of crappy American beer, and say to myself, 'This Tastes Like Good Poison'.

I hope you enjoy this darker delving into the mind of GrevusAnjl; a fellow who's happier than he's ever been; but still wants us all to be happy, all the time. That's not too much to ask, right? :)

Through My Gaunt Eye

This track is an original ambient binaural electronic organic tripped out instrumental journey and was inspired by watching the film Decent and a recent adventure to the mysterious Crank Caverns in Rainford UK on a clear but cold day and reading up on the caverns myth and history dating back to at least the 15th century with supposedly a subterranean church and weird cannibalistic goblins roaming down there in a labyrinth of caves and caverns! 

The surrounding countryside and area is familiar to me since childhood, so i was rooting about near the caves for treasure like you do haha and i spotted a dark looking hole tucked away in the embankment close to one of the caves and thought to myself this looks interesting and not a rabbit hole so i found a fist sized rock close at hand and rolled it down, i suddenly realised this was a very deep hole and i nervous rush of vertigo speed through me as i realised i was over it by my self in the middle of nowhere! 

I soon moved away and then went home for a lie down haha and ended up having the most strangest of dreams were i was falling down that hole as the vertigo took over me and pulled me to another world which started off at the local supermarket as i emerged from the deep dark watery cave from a door into the cake and biscuits aisle and then somehow ended up on the planet Mars ripping the sands up on a real mint Quad bike chasing a fantasy ocean as i kept on falling in a dreamy slow motion through time with everything rushing past me flowing like liquid at light speed seemingly forever but there were no goblins just spacial oceans, euphoric energy's and maybe one or two aliens! haha
