Last year the four piece band released their debut EP on Sydney’s Plastic World, a perfectly measured mix of summery synth pop and tropical disco. It was called "Together", and it brought unity and feelings of shared happiness to nightclubs and pool parties everywhere.

"Altruisme" is their latest single, and another sure sign that Retiree are only looking out for us. The track combines vintage machine drum rhythms, new wave guitar licks, the sounds of the sea, and some haunting French vocals to create a slow funk jam. GL's latest single 'Hallucinate' from their forthcoming debut album 'Touch' via Plastic World & Midnight Feature, July 15th.

Infectiously energetic, yet vibrating with honesty, the album is a mature take on electronic Funk and Soul, honouring the originators of the sound. ‘Touch’ is about body contact, sweating silhouettes and music that gives you a physical reaction. As Ella says “it is very much dance music but also about physical love.”

Happy Accidents is a back to basics approach to dance music and the first track off their debut EP called ‘Our Thing’. It is inspired by the arrangement, sound and musicality of traditional dance music styles like disco, funk and early house artists such as Mr Fingers.

Sydney's Retiree have returned with a second offering, 'Jan', out now on Plastic World. Following on from their first single 'Continental' released late last year, 'Jan' features the band's signature dreamy vocals and 80's like drum beats. Whilst maintaining an air of tropical warmth, the song's vocals, depict a story of loss. Contrasting the immersive, upbeat melody against the hidden emotional meaning see's Retiree delve further into a sonic exploration of electronic-pop music.

"Jan is a melancholy song in disguise. I started writing it on a train from Germany to Amsterdam on my way to my uncles funeral. The whole song is sort of equal parts reflective, sad and celebratory" – Retiree
