@nightmares-on-wax “I made this mix after my interview and conversation with Ralph Moore for Mixmag, and it's inspired by lots of the music and references we were discussing. I wanted to do a mix for Mixmag you wouldn’t usually get going through soul, funk, reggae, disco, R&B and house. All the songs are tunes I’ve been digging this past year during the pandemic. I had a lot of fun digging records for this mix and recorded it live in my studio The Other Ship in Ibiza.”

Very happy to present groove and beats pioneer Doni Kis! I met Doni in Porto back in 2016 at Maus Hábitos Club. Doni was playing and I got hoocked on his selection, skills and attitude behind the desks. His way of smoothly mixing soulful bass beats and catchy vocals to make the crowd bounce has been an inspiration since then. I'm very happy to finally have him on Le Mellotron, recorded in August in the beautiful Duro De Matar in Lisbon, a place that truly reminds me of the chill vibes of Le Mellotron bar in Paris. I also hear new stuff that I hadn’t noticed before when I listen to his music - the track with Jack Wilson that opens the mix up is so heavy and cosmic for its time, and I’d forgotten about the track with Wayne Henderson! There are so many great albums out there including the 2 Virgin Ubiquities BBE put out... We could devote a whole week of radio programmes to Roy, his archive is so large… 

He is the key to all things between jazz, soul, disco and hip hop…. Thank you roy for all the music...
