The ethos of the auteur is the primary influence behind the curations of Extended Family (@extendedfamilydjs) co-founder Winne the Wu. As a medical student with a strong passion for the human psyche, the Taipei-born, Brisbane-raised, now Melbourne DJ sees the art of mixing as a hypnotic medium capable of transporting minds into unknown and fantastical worlds. His mixes invariably take the audience through a progression of emotions along tangible storylines. In this one, he combines eerie and futuristic electro, bass, tech and dubstep to create extra-terrestrial scenes bristling with psychedelic energy and addictive adrenaline.

With two Truancy Volumes left in 2016, this week's mix comes from one of the scene's finest purveyors of house and techno music. A regular to labels such as Rekids, Tsuba and his own label, Work Them Records, over the past ten years, Spencer Parker could easily hold his head high as a producer alone, but he'll be the first to admit his true strengths lie behind the decks playing records. Based in Berlin, he rounds out the year having continued his collection of No More Silly Club Songs Vol.2, dropped a new techno alias under the name Brotherhood, whilst also bringing two fresh talents, P.Leone and Physical Therapy to his label. We caught up with Parker to discuss the origins in setting up Work Them, his It’s Not Over We Hustle Harder alias, tour highs and a host of classic US garage records. He delivers his Truancy Volume in a way you'd expect from a man with club ready tools always at hand—a cohesive collection of house, techno and disco records all unashamedly aimed at the dance floor.

Born out of the closure of Copenhagen based nightclub Dunkel, Apeiron started as a means of throwing parties to help enrich the community of promoters that had started to shape the city and their local scene. Throwing parties quickly evolved into being booked to play them, with their eclectic back-to-back sets taking them outside of Copenhagen on an international scale. With a member short and three years having gone by since Apeiron was founded, we caught up with Sara, Emma and Simone to chat about changes in direction, goals, the constraints of more exposure as a crew and their early rave beginnings. Recorded in mix tradition at a friend's bunker in Copenhagen, this hour and a half Truancy Volume has plenty to commit to, with music from Jensen Interceptor, Aphex Twin, Pearson Sound, Sunday Brunch and some Solid Blake material all dotted throughout. The last song also, without wanting to give anything away, is one of the best outro tracks we've had in a while.
