Our ‘Streaming From Isolation’ series is fundraising for The Global FoodBanking Network - whose work providing emergency support to people locked in poverty is crucial at this time.

As part of the series, our long standing partner Ballantine's has committed a fund in the form of 20 grants to be distributed to community-driven collectives around the world. These grants will be given to each collective to distribute as they feel best to support under threat artists and those most in need within their immediate community. This support is critical over the coming months whilst COVID-19 restrictions are in place and impacting many artists’ ability to do what they love and to make a living.

Weekly takeover days of Boiler Room’s channels will feature performances and sets programmed by these collectives from isolation. Broadcast to the world from artists’ homes and private spaces, these transmissions are a way to stay connected while apart.

Diamin | Boiler Room: Streaming From Isolation with MARICAS

A move from her birthplace of Kiev to Chicago, where she grew up, gave DJ and producer Alinka her first taste of house music. Getting her early education from radio shows like Sonic Boom and tracks from local heroes like Cajmere and DJ Funk, she soon became completely engrossed in the dance music scene, leading her to start DJing herself and begin taking on odd jobs at local parties in the city. 

In 2001 she was invited by Justin Long to be a resident at his .Dotbleep party at the legendary Smartbar, where she went on to hold a residency for a decade. Her movements in production came after following a chance meeting with Hercules vs Love Affair vocalist Shaun J. Wright, now her best friend, which led to the pair launching their record label and party Twirl. This would become a home for a lengthy string of collaborative releases, as well as several records via the likes of Crosstown Rebels and Classic. 

Earlier this year, from her now homebase of Berlin, Alinka launched a new label called Fantasy Life with an inaugural EP of infectious house cuts; a solid pre-cursor for what's to come next on the imprint.

Alinka - The 'Wednesday Alternative' Mix

ELLES may be a relative newcomer on the London scene, but her sound and discography already makes an impression. This is a run that continues on her contribution to #PHANTASYMIX, undoubtedly one of our most inventive entries yet. Whilst ELLES’ releases thus far have have found an open-hearted queer futurism in the legacy of UK rave and especially UK garage (see ‘Put On Our Classics’ from the ‘summer_of_love’ EP on Naive for a perfect demonstration of this distillation), this mix sees ELLES masterfully reduce the pace to an outright meditative pace, then gradually release that same pent-up club energy like a whistling kettle. 

Featuring music from the likes of Loraine James, Actress, Arca and Charlotte Adigery, ELLES celebrates powerful songwriting and production from some of the most forward-thinking artists in contemporary electronic music, mixed with the emerging tension of a quality house and techno set. Tune in, drift off and think towards that brighter future.
