AnalyticTrail welcomes back Hanubis for his second solo EP “Violence” after the previous successful release “Dish” that marked his definitive access in the scene trough the main door.

Markantonio discovered the Italian talented producer only one year ago and from that moment he became a must on the imprint. Debuting for the first time with a solo release on a big label, he caught on himself the eyes of top Djs like Charlotte De Witte who played his success “Balrog” for the "Alternative Top 100 DJs Winner DJ Set from Porto" that confirmed his growth and achievement as one of the top talented producer in the Techno scene.

Hanubis boasts a very rich catalogue releasing on many different labels over the past years like Sam Paganini’s JAM, Suara, Etruria Beat, IAMT and many more.
His style and taste of making techno is very unique. Energetic, captivating and solid loud covered with a dark mood atmosphere and epic vocals, make his EP “Violence”, that includes also “Push” and “Claymore”, a good example to represents it.

@Dormantyouth is the DJ alias of Thelma Ndebele, a non-binary (they/them) Architect and Cultural Practitioner based in Johannesburg, South Africa. They use the role of DJ as a research method for their current spatial practice based on their now-completed masters dissertation on prototyping architectural typologies for music-based nightlife subcultures. When DJing, DORMANTYOUTH gravitates towards electronically produced music, especially sounds that boom from underground scenes in urban environments and global queer and black communities.

It was early 2007 when Inigo Kennedy inaugurated Token. Since that Identify Yourself 12” the Belgian label has gone from strength to strength, integrating both Kennedy and Ashley Burchett, aka Ø [Phase], into becoming integral cogs in the Token machine. In between releases by Grovskopa, Oscar Mulero and Go Hiyama, both Ø [Phase] and Inigo Kennedy dominated Token’s output, but it wasn’t until Burchett’s watershed Binary Opposition that Token received the shower of praise it deserved. Following this, label founder Kr!z issued three remix 12”s of that release which, including Token regulars, took in a profound cast of producers to reprocess “Binary Opposition” by the way of Sigha, Peter Van Hoesen, Planetary Assault Systems and Ben Klock. It was here Token stamped their authority on contemporary techno.

Since then Token has grown exponentially, bringing into their fold artists like Xhin, Mark Broom and Rødhåd, while Ctrls, formally one half of Northern Structures, has seen his solo career flourish on Token with the release of five records to date, and he joins Inigo Kennedy and Ø [Phase] as a label stalwart. Additionally this year, Orphx and Ancient Methods debuted their relentless Eschaton collaboration on Token, and Christian Wünsch’s Spherical Coordinates dalliance with Oscar Mulero has gained even more momentum with a second release called Kinematics Equations. Now, seven years after that debut Kennedy record, Token present Aphelion, a nine-track CD and triple vinyl grandstand of new and exclusive material from label regulars and like-minded artists whom Token founder Kr!z specifically commissioned for this milestone release.

The penultimate record before Aphelion was a second Token 12” by Rødhåd, another artist adding to the cultivation of the label’s sound and roster, and for this compilation the Berliner supplies his cosmically inspired “Haumea”. Joining the Dystopian founder on Aphelion are three of the UK’s most influential techno artists: Surgeon, James Ruskin and Luke Slater under his Planetary Assault Systems alias who provide Token with solo material for the first time after previously appearing on the imprint in remix form. Entirely new names to grace the label via Aphelion include Stroboscopic Artefacts founder Lucy, and Blawan and Pariah's Karenn project, while label faithfuls Inigo Kennedy,  Ø [Phase] and Ctrls naturally commit three Token defining productions.

Casting one’s eye over Token’s back catalogue and it’s clear to see the label is a staunch advocate of absolute techno, remaining steadfast in issuing quality material that remains true to classic strands of the genre regardless of its popularity flux. In that respect, Aphelion - a word used to describe the point in orbit when a planet or comet is farthest from the sun - provides a simple analogy that the magnetic force of Token, unfazed by the shadows cast by popular opinion, will proudly shine light on their artists and given styles. 

“We started in an era where our genre was very unpopular,” Kr!z explains. “And in the end that seemed a big advantage for us, because when everyone was giving up, we started our mission.” Regularly hosting label nights in prominent clubs around the world, Token has become a label supported by a wide-ranging body of artists like Âme and Ben Klock to Efdemin, Truss and Ancient Methods. With the label now branching out into album and compilation territory, Token’s duty to techno may not yet be accomplished, but it’s been a job well done.

Kaputt has been releasing quality records for near 5 years, and the Berlin imprint continues with yet another great addition to their catalogue from a newcomer known as Karuun, who is also from Germany.

With three freaky Techno tools, Karuun has certainly made a lasting impression as we look forward to seeing where he takes this seal of approval. Signing off the release is the label boss Coeter, known for works on Florian Meindl’s Flash, Gynoid Audio and Re:Axis’ Monocline. He steps up to rework the title track called “Obsolete” that we selected for this DT:Premiere.

Coeter turns the focus into a chunky groove, whilst keeping the edge of the original. Dancefloor focused, bleepy, and with hypnotic textures, this has everything to intrigue and entertain.

The new 'Alliances' project will see Slam co-producing with friends and peers from around the globe, beginning with Gary Beck, Pan-Pot & Italo Boyz. Other confirmed artists include Joris Voorn, Laurent Garnier, Paul Ritch, Len Faki & Mihalis Safras.

PARA014 sees Slam embark on their first 'Alliances' project with fellow Glaswegian, Gary Beck. As two linchpins of techno – the product has a lot to live up to. The result of this collaboration is a controlled blend of drive and groove primed to work the dancefloor.

The opening track on the EP, and the series, is the uncompromising 'Verto'. Ravey synth-lines and snares rolls flow in liquid swells of suspense and tension as the track pushes forward in its stripped and organic form.

The AA-side, 'South' oozes groove and restraint, albeit at a slightly slower pace. The 'South' bassline retains the drive, and is steady and rolling, flowing back and forth throughout the duration. Hovering synths and a spine-chilling vocal are utilised at the breaks allowing the track motion and lucidity.

This first in 'Alliances' series sets the bar high, with a no-nonsense approach to the dancefloor.

Club culture is essential to all of us. Its like home. Our culture has been deeply impacted by the coronavirus shockwaves. All clubs are closed. All festivals have been canceled. Its impossible to predict when we will all be able to finally meet again in the club. To dance, to hug, to go berserk.

They use this alias as part of her thesis research on sonics as a metric for space and an alternative translation of place . When DJing, they gravitate towards electronically produced music , especially sounds that boom from underground scenes in urban environments. Club Qu (aka Club Quarantäne) is a virtual online club that sprung up as the first lockdown hit Europe in spring 2020 with the aim of helping to fill the void of connection and music during the pandemic. The CQ5 virtual club night has been collaboratively curated specifically to feature an international range of queer collectives: Tortilla (Mexico City), Papi Juice (New York), DORMANTYOUTH (Johannesburg), ArtKB48 (Taiwan), Maricas (Barcelona), and ZONAexp (São Paulo).

A collaboration with IOR50 Studio also presented a queer motion capture archive within the virtual club’s space on this evening. The ever-growing database is an open source tool for artists to use, and a hub for movement that exists in a virtual space created for queer expression. The avatars found within the CQ5 space on this night were powered by dancers Aaron Porter, Adam Frost, Amelia Kay, Anairin Kaines, Benjamin P Holloway, Dak Mashava, Denis Muresan, Giacomo Spinelli, Jacob O’Connell, James Boswell, Lulu Perulli, Mascpeach, Sakeema Crook, Sam Aldridge, Seren Mehmet, and Yannis-Arthur Koba.
