Laurent Garnier returns to production with a new project: "A13", released by Musique Large. Garnier has been a long-standing fan of the label and its music, and here he delivers four devastating instrumental cuts that show he can throw down with the best of the new blood, beat for beat. This is an unusual release for the French techno pioneer, a timeless take on electronic hip hop beats. The game is up kids, make space for a true master.

Garnier - Wise Words For No Life Guacamoles (Claude Remix)

A healthy dose of Australasian music, you say? For the uninitiated, Electric Wire Hustle are a Kiwi trio that tastefully hopscotch between hip hop, psychedelia and soul. They're two albums deep, with their self-titled LP (2010) and last year's Love Can Prevail already under their belts - both of which stand as CV-worthy, full-bodied dives into the land of off-kilter boom bap and Marvin Gaye-esque crooning.

With Spring 2015 on its way, EWH are preparing to drop the  Love Can Prevail Remix EP . Entries come from across time zones, with Osunlade,  Flako, Eliphino and Computer Jay  on the bill. Yet for us,  Seven Davis Jr.'s rejig of "Look Into The Sky" came up top trumps. Maybe it's the loosey-goosey, soulful house energy that first grabbed us. Or the vaguely Todd Edwards-tinged aftertaste it leaves in the mouth? Either way, it's honey for both the dancefloor late shift and Sunday lounge in equal measure. 

The  Love Can Prevail Remix EP is set to arrive in May to coincide  with their 9 date European tour later this month. Dates include stop-offs in Stockholm, Warsaw (RBMA event), Munich, Berlin and  a night at Oslo in London (April 18).

The name Hugo Mari might not ring a bell just yet, but we’ve got a feeling this is about to change real soon. He’s released a handful of EP’s under his former alias Books on Omena and XVI including his own edit series on the latter label (check out his killer track ‘in the groove or his jazzy deep house collaboration with Zodiac called ‘Feel it in my Bones’). Considering he’s also remixed well known artists like afrobeat legend Dele Sosimi and grime master Trim, you might share our view of this amazingly talented and versatile producer. His “Change ur ways” EP for Heist is soulful, jazzy, deep and energetic with three varied originals and a classic soulful house remix by man of the moment, NDATL label head Kai Alcé.

this is the first mix that I've recorded live, EVER (sorry hehe). it's a bit rough (don't ask me why lol) we were also lucky enough to have the homies from red bull PH hook it up. they provided and delivered the equipment that day, which we spontaneously decided to set up in my apartment. it was an afternoon of good music and good energy + pizza. shoutouts to miss badkiss for this. enjoy +++

"Feeling You" is the first single from David Marston's debut album. The song that highlights the hedonism often associated with nightlife and music culture. The song was written by David Marston and Craig Williamson during a studio session at Marston’s former home in Kingston, Jamaica. It begins with Williamson’s crooning voice scatting and making seemingly indiscernible melodic utterances over a skeletal rhythm. The instrumental soon starts to gain body and muscle, gradually morphing into an hypnotic beat with a swirling arpeggiated synth, punchy bass hits, and stomping drums. Williamson cooly sings about seduction, over-indulgence, and drug consumption during a late night out in the club. 

Notably, Italian DJ and production duo, Lowheads, have crafted a first-rate classic house remix of the song, as well as a dub mix that make up additional tracks on the release. In contrast to the trippy, down-tempo quality of the original, Lowheads’ two renditions give the song an exemplary and buoyant dancoor-floor makeover that are extremely DJ friendly.
