A household name within the underground dance scene since the beginning of 2000, The Scumfrog makes his debut on rising Berlin based label, Ballroom with 'Hideout' including an epic remix from label bosses Kaiser Souzai.

Credited for his remixes of household names such as Kylie Minogue, Annie Lennox and Missy Elliott as well as collaborations with legendary artists David Bowie, Sting and Cyndi Lauper (which got him a Grammy nomination), The Scumfrog has been everywhere. Dropping tracks on pretty much every prominent label out there from Bedrock to 1605, Positiva to Yoshitoshi, The Scumfrog has already kick started his 2015 with a release on Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound imprint. 

The Dutch/American producer's roots sit firmly within tech house, his Ballroom release a dark and atmospheric creation with crisp hi-hats and melodic synths. Not to forget label heads Kaiser Souzai's futuristic rework bringing in more creative and hypnotic layers to an already magnetic release.

Another solid release package from a burgeoning label who continues to deliver with every drop.

Rudimental - Rumour Mill (Kyle Watson Remix)

Osaka-based Erik Luebs is next up for Project Mooncircle. Although we don't know much about him, this latest project has a clear M.O: Absolute Presence is all about losing connection with the physical world and exploring a much deeper place within your mind. Suitably, "Losing It" has a real meditative charm about it - wafting, airy pads suspended above fluffy percussive movements. Things get a tad grittier towards the two-minute mark, but it's more fuzzy warmth than outright scuzz.

Absolute Presence comes out worldwide on limited coloured vinyl on September 22nd.

Erik Luebs "Losing It" - Boiler Room Debuts

Dust off a wine glass or three; today we raise a toast to one of the most dedicated house music institutions — Smallville Records. Ten years is a ruddy good time in this part of town, and establishing such a loveable brand takes some doing. Yet, with misty-eyed house at its core, the record store-cum-label has confidently strutted towards the big ten. To celebrate, the Hamburg fam are dispensing the third and fourth part of the Ways Series — entitled Smallville Ways — with a two four-track 12" and an 11-track CD. 

Naturally, the roll-call reels off like a FIFA dream team equivalent: STL, Christopher Rau, Moomin, L'Amour Fou (Move D with Benoit Bouquin (BB) and Marco Wollenberg), Smallpeople, Juniper, Jacques Bon, Lawrence, Rvds & Rau, and Tilman Tausendfreund.

Kornél Kovács' offering carves the deepest incision though. Remodelling a D'Angelo Rhodes piano sample into a diet version of itself, "Space Jam" is as airy and uncluttered as we've come to expect. Here's to another decade then, ayy.
