Straight out of the West Country,  Jabru  has been spreading tendrils widely over the last couple of years. He's released hip hop, house, spacious soul and more, with co-signs from people like  Will Saul,  JD Twitch, Hackman, Zed Bias and, uhh, our own  Joe Muggs  - but everything has had a strong undercurrent of the bass and space of vintage dub. As a kid growing up in Illinois' tucked-away capital of Springfield, Justin Cudmore played the drums at home and in school as a jazz percussionist. In his college days Justin dove into electronic music, workshopping new-wave influenced beats in bands and DJing parties. Currently, Justin is a fixture across Brooklyn, popping up on dance floors and behind booths, where he has spun records at his Hotmix parties along with Mike Servito and Gunnar Haslam. 

“Crystal” is Cudmore’s debut 12” single. Raw, rough and ready to rumble, “Crystal” marries snaking acid lines and bouncy grooves to a sample from cult underground film classic 'The Queen'.  On the flip is Detroit-bred and Bunker resident DJ Mike Servito’s “730 Reshape”, that gives the wiggly worm vibe harkening back to the early days of Transmat, Warp and the minimalism of Dan Bell's DBX project. L.I.E.S. mainstay Gunnar Haslam provides his “Dekalb Avenue Remix” made while living in New York, a modular synth cruise with the top down. All tracks have been mastered and EQed for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley and labels are as pink as Crystal’s lipstick.

Following on from the successful release of ‘Basic Colour Theory: Remixed’ in March, Catz n’ Dogz announce their latest EP ‘Upsi Bubsi'. The duo's first release of 2016 welcomes the New Year in true Catz n Dogz fashion with two tracks EP is a fruitful twist of cosmic melodies mixed under the duo's trademark heavy tech-house styled bass and percussion. 

The EPs’ opening and title track ‘Upsi Bubsi' is a certified floor filler from the get go. The track opens with a thunderous mix of 909 loops alongside a repeated throb of intense arpeggiated bass. The track is peppered with splurges of crashing cymbals, rolling toms and the hypnotic looped vocal whispering ‘don't stop'; a track clearly engineered for the dance floor. As the track builds, we are greeted with Egyptian styled keys, an unusual choice of sounds for most indeed, but a skill that we have become accustomed to in many of the duo’s productions. 

‘Elixir' offers a different experience to its counterpart with a collage of rising melodic chords and an 808 break beat. The track is a beautiful arrangement of graceful choir sounding melodies over warm sub-bass chords, seemingly inspired by early 90's Detroit. The track takes full form introducing tribal drum patterns alongside splashes of keys and styled cosmic percussion. The track is a testament to the producer’s creative prowess, showcasing their broad abilities to tackle all styles and genres of dance music.

This release undoubtedly highlights Catz N’ Dogz’ arsenal of talent in creating two very unique but equally as strong productions. Both possess the quality and pedigree of the duo's back catalogue and are set to command the globe’s top dance floors.

Having made a huge impact amid Carl Craig’s celebrated 2019 entry in Planet E's Detroit Love mix compilation series, @Ataxia's anthemic ‘Oblivion’ arrives on vinyl for the first time alongside a new cut, ‘Michaelangelos’. Each track takes Ataxia’s notoriously detailed production techniques and applies them to a widescreen, enveloping template.

Constructed from rubbery basslines, wormholes of rave power and a structure that applies tension and release to killer effect, ‘Oblivion’ has continued to engross dancers since it’s digital release, transmitting an increasingly rare blend of minimal yet maximal rave pleasures. 

On ‘Michaelangelos’, Ataxia further demonstrates a fluid ability to keep listeners on their toes, shuffling the deck but applying the same irresistible tricks to a rhythmic, tripping cut and the unexpected sample at its core.

Consisting of Eric Ricker and Ted Krisko, Ataxia have previously released on labels including Visionquest, 2020 Vision, Leftroom and Kevin Saunderson's KMS Recordings. They currently hold down long term residencies at the legendary Marble Bar and TV Lounge in their hometown of Detroit.
