Deep Space Radio was originally formed in the early 1990s by Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May and Eddie Fowlkes. It was a Detroit radio show dedicated to house & techno. Deep Space Radio served as a platform where these young producers could have complete control in programming and the opportunity to expose the world to new sounds from the underground. Kevin went on to do a Deep Space Radio X-Mix for Germany’s Studio !K7 label in 1997. 2013 marks the return of Deep Space Radio as Kevin Saunderson’s monthly podcast, carrying on the tradition of introducing the most compelling new electronic music artists and presenting the deepest, funkiest techno sounds from the global underground.

We’re long term admirers of the The Orb here at Data Transmission; known for their assimilation of deepest dub into their stratospheric sonic innovations we were more than a little excited to receive news that they would be following up the release of their second ‘History Of The Future’ compilation with a new album for German techno institution Kompakt Records this summer.

Titled ‘Moon Building 2703 AD’ the album will follow up their 2005 LP ‘Okie Dokie It's The Orb On Kompakt’ with founding member Alex Paterson describing the work as “a solid piece of music that mutates into an eight legged lunar Land Rover and takes off into a cosmic horizon of a million sounds, patterns and textures. It spins the listener on his/her head, rewiring their brains to maximum capacity, then brings them home, sweet home.”

With their new album arriving June 22nd we thought there was no better time than now to welcome the seminal outfit to deliver a mix for the DT podcast and we're delighted to inform you that they most certainly haven't disappointed. Check. It. Out.

I also hear new stuff that I hadn’t noticed before when I listen to his music - the track with Jack Wilson that opens the mix up is so heavy and cosmic for its time, and I’d forgotten about the track with Wayne Henderson! There are so many great albums out there including the 2 Virgin Ubiquities BBE put out... We could devote a whole week of radio programmes to Roy, his archive is so large… 

He is the key to all things between jazz, soul, disco and hip hop…. Thank you roy for all the music...

Hello friends - this month we go deeper into underground techno on Neverwhere Radio for Episode 022. I've mixed some new music for you from artists like Artefakt, Forest Drive West, Lockertmatik, Art Alfie, Patrick Siech and more, and additionally we have a very special guest mix from Tokyo's clandestine techno super talent, DJ Sodeyama (трип, Arpa). He is best known for being a mainstay at Japan's infamous Womb Club, as well as releasing on Nina Kraviz's трип label and his own label, Arpa, amongst many other great projects. He is a master selector,  I really love the music in this show -  I hope you enjoy it!
