We touched down in Colombia's Caribbean capital to take a deep dive into its ‘picó’ soundsystem culture. Hosted on two of the cities most celebrated ‘picós’ - Huracan Turbo Laser and Skorpion Disco, SYSTEM: Barranquilla shone a light 70 years of musical heritage, featuring an all-star cast of the cities most important players.

Ondatropica is a musical collaboration lead by Mario Galeano and Will Holland. The foundation of the project was laid in a 
three week recording session at the legendary Discos Fuentes in Medellin, Colombia. It was there that over 40 musicians 
came together to revisit, revive and celebrate tropical music of the country. 

An 'Onda' is a soundwave, a charge of sonic energy projected out into the atmosphere. Musical explosions like Ondatropica don't come out of nowhere, each participant of Ondatropica has their own history and experience contributing to the whole. This mix celebrates the music of the individuals that make up the Ondatropica collective and the diversity of Latin America's tropical music scene.
