Having recently collaborated for '14,000 km Away’, Berlin's Philip Bader now makes his solo debut for Davide Squillace's boundary pushing This And That imprint with a 5 track EP named ‘Funkey Feeling’ - set for release on 22nd December.

 ‘Julia’ is a perfect combination of driving beats and snapping high hats, showcasing Bader’s technically proficient production. 'Yeppa' follows, and crafts a true dancefloor killer with signature pounding drums and intelligently structured effects, whilst ‘Walking Away’ takes the EP into a dark, atmospheric direction. 'Funkey Feeling’ rounds off the EP, and as the title suggests is a more upbeat offering that adds a distinct groove to proceedings - with eclectic Barcelona-based duo Haiku 575 providing a melodic remix of their own.

The label's clear focus on combining the worlds of art, culture and music provide a perfect platform for 'Julia's' deep, techno sound, with release artwork specifically commissioned by This and That. Continuing their longstanding relationship with art
collective Galleria Fonti, Angolean artist and photographer Kiluanji Kia Henda was distinguished by the magazine Foreign Politics as one of the Leading Global Thinkers of 2014, and his work aims to draw attention to issues of race, power dynamics and global relations.

With a steady output of releases on esteemed labels such as Get Physical, Saved and Moon Harbour, Philip's latest EP for This And That is a direct reflection of his explorative approach to production. Having received widespread support from the
likes of Santé, Anja Schneider, Pirupa and many more, 'Julia' takes Philip into 2015 with strong ammunition for the dance floor.

The founder of Octopus Recordings was born in Dublin and raised in Southern Spain, and has spent the last decade recording music for the likes of Cocoon, Aus Music and Soma Recordings.  In 2011, he set up his own imprint, and since then Octopus has released music from the likes of Jay Lumen, Etai Tarazi, Boryana, Daryl Stay, M. Fukuda, Weska, Barbuto and many more.

Sian regularly DJs around the world at some of the most respected clubs and festivals, including Fabric in London, the Berghain in Berlin and Arma 17 in Moscow.

A legendary producer and DJ who has been releasing music under various monikers and collaborations since the mid 90's as part of Baltimore's premier crew - The Basement Boys. He's been known for a wide variety of music production over the years which include deep and soulful house, techno, hip hop and broken beat, and his mix is just as diverse with tracks from Common, JayDee, Mort Garson, Gene Harris, Tomohawk Bang to Prince and MJ.

Who better to kick off the inaugural release of SOBO [Sounds Of Beaubien Ouest] than Patrick Holland, best known as Project Pablo. Affiliated with the Canadian Riviera's 1080p troupe, as well as Seb Wildblood's Church and Lone's Magicwire – Holland now adds Beaubien Dream as the fourth instalment to his 12" series. The Beaubien connection comes from Montreal's Rue Beaubien, of which Holland is a resident. SOBO is headed up by fellow longstanding citizens of the Beaubien Ouest hood, Arbutus Records and their extended family – of which Holland is an instrumental part.

An initial teaser of the EP's opening "Closer" was aired publicly during Holland's BR London set back in October, as well as his NTS appearance with Lone and Gabriola earlier this year. Now, after a patient seven-month wait, we can finally wrap our mitts around it in its entirety. Alongside its two subsequent components, the track acts as a homage to Holland's home. With its distinctive Dx7 melodies, jingly percussion provided by bells (of the cow variety amongst others) and an insatiable groove growing lazily throughout – "Closer" is instantaneous happiness.

Project Pablo "Closer" - Boiler Room Debuts

Chico Mann, the self-proclaimed time travelling producer and multi-instrumentalist, is singlehandedly bridging the 30-something-yearlong gap between afrobeat and electronic music. His newest release marks his fourth outing on Soundway Records, the British label specialising in reissues of obscure afro-jazz, afro-funk and Latin originals.

"Nobody Wants To" is a chunky slab of spacey shimmering synth work with a hip-hop heart throbbing at its core. Supplying beautiful vocals is Kendra Morris, who explains that the track is about "trying to fill the void, and then being too stubborn to let go. (...) It feels good for a while, but then it kinda bottoms out."

"Nobody Wants To" and its instrumental version drop on 7" vinyl and digital formats on 20th May via Soundway. That same night, Soundway are throwing a party at London's Village Underground. Come one, come all.

Emerson Todd, exclusive mix on Apparel Music Radio show, Episode095! 
Stretching back much further than his first visit to a night club, Emerson Todd's musical heritage comes from a very, very early age. Growing up and going to festivals as a child and being named after a prog rock band, did he ever really stand a chance? 
With a family-owned record shop thrown into the mix, he was soon collecting music before he even knew about djing.. He first learnt the art of music selection when the tapes or 12"s ran their course at family parties. It was a young Mr Todd that would change the music and with that came his first experience of learning how to keep a party going. 
Since then his musical journey has followed a geographical one, while moving from New Zealand to Australia, London and now Berlin. Emerson has graced such labels as Saved Records, Upon You, One Records, Cocoon, Get Physical, Apparel Music, Souvenir Music and My Favourite Robot; a diverse selection of labels for an artists whose inspirations and sets come from an equally diverse background. 
After several years of building his reputation as a professional dj in New Zealand, it wasn't long before he had established himself as one of the country’s top DJ’s, balancing national tours with monthly gigs in Australia. Then in 1998 he met Christiaan?? Ercolano and formed House of Downtown. This quickly gathered an impressive following with the success of their weekly radio show and their debut 
single ‘Up For the One’, which was supported by the likes of Derrick May. The pair were soon snapped up by Universal Music, who offered them their own label to run and release on. Subsequently, they produced two full-length albums. During this time, they also produced the complete movie score for UK Company Film Four (of ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ fame) for the movie ‘Stickmen’. 
Emerson moved from New Zealand to Sydney Australia where he began working fulltime as an audio engineer. His skills were duly sort after(what does duly mean??), and he went on to engineer some of the country’s most well-known acts including The Sleepy Jackson, Teenager, Pnau, and festival headliners, The Presets. 
Not only were his talents behind the desk gaining recognition, but also behind the decks. Becoming a regular fixture at Sydney’s leading techno nights led to an increase of Emerson’s bookings around Australia. But it was with the release of the bass-heavy Rumplestiltskin that really put Emerson back in the spotlight. Big, tight and bouncy; it was instantly picked up by Claude VonStroke for Dirtybird. 
As the gigs and productions followed, it was not long before it was time for Emerson to make the leave from the antipodes and throw himself into the thick of the action. 
2009 saw him make the move to London. This almost instantly paid off, as just a couple of months after, his first EP for Get Physical was signed. 
Now based in Berlin, Emerson has found his grounding and established himself as a 
forward thinking producer and dj. His releases are wide-ranging and always innovative as are his Dj sets which have been heard in clubs all over the world.
