M.in Time Travel Part 1 / 2009 - End Of 2010

Spanish DJ & producer, Eduardo De La Calle, has continued to explore the outer limits of the electronic palette since his Cadenza Records debut back in 2013, clocking up stellar releases for the likes of Mule Musiq, Hivern Discs, Be As One and Nonplus over the last couple of years.

Eduardo returns to Cadenza in February with the ‘Anima Animus’ single, coupling two tracks of refined techno for your listening pleasure.  Taking inspiration from the psychologist/philosopher Carl Jung’s concept of anima and animus (and do take the time to explore this), Eduardo marries arpeggiated synths and melodic chords with a soft kick and tantalizing hats, producing a slick piece of reflective techno that’s alive with melody and groove.

On ‘North Pole’, we get more of the signature ‘De La Calle’ sound; subaquatic bass and searing, melancholic strings play out over a steady mechanical beat, nodding its head not only to the Detroit masters but also to the European New Wave sounds that influenced the Motor City artists in the first instance.

Another assured single release from Eduardo that will further solidify his place in the current electronic music landscape.

This is a recording i was asked to do for ' The Docks' exhibition last year, presented by Melbourne City Council and Melbourne Raves.
The mix was used in the listening pods at the Melbourne Docklands Library.
The set is an Ambient excursion, and a reminder that after a night at a docks party when ears would ring from hard beats, there would come a time for chillout.
All vinyl set.

Ladies and gentlemen, 
due to police intervention and the early shut down of last night's event at Mirage, I was not able to finish my set. :-( poor Bedouins weren't able to play at all )-;

Luckily I have an excerpt of my last New York set at hand, so you can continue your acid experience with this one. It was the third day of a little tour in March that brought me to the #akumandra party at #HouseOfYes. (Thanks to everybody for having made this a very special night)
The set was actually supposed to be released as third part of my trilogy, but, hey, I am happy to trade conceptional purity for spontaneity ;-)


Nothing more to say, but thanks to everybody who came out last night and had to leave earlier than expected and of course thanks a lot to #Cityfox for making it all happen.

Up next is all round Mr Nice Guy, Melbourne based MATIC aka Carlos Nascimento. If you're from Melbourne and your thing is going to quality gigs, then you've probably met this guy on the dance floor. He goes to absolutely everything!

By way of Curitiba, Brazil and with stints in Amsterdam and Barcelona, MATIC is one of Melbourne's most gifted deck technicians. His early influences was the experimental electronica of Warp, the industrial funk of Surgeon and Downwards and the hypnotic minimalism of Richie Hawtin. Equally influential were his formative DJ years in Amsterdam at the turn of the Millennium where he was exposed to sets from locals like Steve Rachmad as well as a multitude of elite techno DJs constantly visiting the Netherlands like Surgeon, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke and Richie Hawtin.

With a record collection spanning over 15 years of crate digging, each set is craftily constructed by building layer upon layer of forward thinking electronic music. Thanks to  his track selection and mixing skills, MATIC has slowly but consistently built a solid reputation amongst his peers in the Melbourne scene over the years.

This mix is a personal journey through the Techno spectrum with tracks, artists and styles that have shaped his electronic music taste for the last 20 years. However, he didn't want it to be a mix full of classics only. His aim was to add a local taste and keep it fresh with a good balance between the past and the future.
