In March of this year we saw Jimpster’s Porchlight And Rocking Chairs LP fall on expectant and eager ears, winning praise from the likes of RA, DJ Mag and Groove as well as plays and support from a host of the worlds best radio and club DJ’s. With the majority of the LP being more home listening than club-focused we decided to call in some of our favorite producers to rework a track of their choice for the dance-floors and here we present you the first part of the amazing results.

KiNK needs little introduction of course, except to say that his live set as well as his hands on hardware approach in the studio has seen him become established as one of the most exciting producers of the last couple of years. When he agreed to remix Porchlight And Rocking Chairs (a track he incidentally referred to as his favorite of the year!) we couldn’t have been happier and knew that something very special would come from it. When he got in touch to say he’d done a version but explained it was done live in one take with all the parts being tweaked in real time making it very hard to change anything we were even more intrigued and excited. As expected, what he delivered is an intense, high energy reworking full of piercing high’s and rattling lows, keeping the original chords and many of the keyboard lines in place but injecting a raw drive and improvised feel which has already seen it become a highlight of Jimpster sets this summer.

Andre Lodemann provides the perfect antidote to KiNK’s frenetic version in the form of his Towards The Seer Remix, going for a tight, emotive, late night groove which develops slowly, teasing out the arrangement and keeping things sublime and understated. Subtle bass twists and dubbed out FX build to the extended break where we’re introduced to the original’s acoustic bass riff in all it’s glory. Another brilliant Andre Lodemann production.

Quickly following up the last, instant sell-out smash, Shir Khan's infamous "Black Jukebox" series hit us with the 12th edition. Introducing anonymous project Aussteiger who gets things bouncing with the Summer house monster, "Bangbao". Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. Martin Lewis contributes a seriously fun and summery version of "Now That We Found Love", utilizing glorious xylophones and horns throughout the melody and letting it roll out with aplomb. Finally, we get the cheeky "Do It" edit which combines hypnotic congas with funky guitar licks and a sun-burnt, Latin energy to create a sizzling brew of hot dancefloor energy. Great stuff! Panthera Krause's music-making habits teeter on the precipice between moody and outright fun house; a technique which has done wonders for the Leipzig melody maker since his early years. The mould was set with his weekly podcasts and 2012's "Cassandra" on local imprint O*RS. Then further solidified via the Yorikke EP in 2013 - a three-track mid-summer trip on Riotvan - and the delights of his Rules EP (2014) on Lobster Theremin and the Laika EP (2014) on Riotvan.

The Uncanny Valley connection was established during the back end of last year. The pumping “Coochie” formed part of the Uncanny Valley: Five Years On Parole release and was quite the foretaste. And here we arrive at "Umami"; a lesson in colourful and let-loose four-to-the-floor which first saw light on our recent Dresden show with the UV fam.

Panthera Krause "Umami" - Boiler Room Debuts

London-based artist ABSOLUTE. debuts his single ‘Fairground’ via his own A. Player imprint. Out now.

The track was born out of sessions at London’s iconic Fortress Studios, also home to Jamie xx, Paranoid London and Bicep. It was mastered by veteran engineer Matt Colton (James Blake, Panda Bear, Caribou) and is already picking early support with tastemakers from DJ EZ to Horsemeat Disco.

With ‘Fairground’, ABSOLUTE. (always all caps, with a full stop) has crafted a bold, electrifying debut that envelops the listener in its cavernous atmospherics, with celestial synths and chopped, distant vocals heralding echoing horns and tribal percussion. It’s the sound of someone carving their own path, and marks ABSOLUTE. out as one of the UK’s most intriguing new producers. 

Elusive London DJ and producer KDA demanded to remix ‘Fairground’ on first listen, stepping up to deliver a pneumatic dub version that loses none of the original’s dark ambiance. The remix will be released in March 2016 and follows KDA’s own debut single ‘Rumble’ last year, which ultimately topped the UK singles chart with a reworked version featuring Katy B and Tinie Tempah. 

Having already appeared on line-ups alongside the likes of Claude VonStroke, Green Velvet, Derrick Carter, Julio Bashmore, Cyril Hahn, Gesaffelstein, 2 Bears, Greg Wilson, Justin Martin, Flashmob to name just a few, ABSOLUTE. is set to unveil a highly anticipated live show this Summer. Stay tuned.

Fairground

Trevino aka Marcus Intalex joins recent Aus signings Recloose and Cassy with his 'Casino' EP. Marcus Intalex is widely known for making ground breaking drum and bass. In 2011 he started the Trevino alias to feed his desire to get back to his roots and rekindle his 4 to the floor spirit. 

This new phase of his career propelled him to move to Berlin where he's continued to develop a hugely impressive discography that’s included releases on Ben Klock's Klockworks and Martyn's 3024.

'Casino' brings together three deftly structured and dance floor focused tracks that blur the boundary between house and techno in true Trevino fashion.

Our new track featured on the KLSUNDERGROUND001 Compilation released by Klasse Recordings. It is based on our remix competition proposal for the track "Pościelówa" by Jackname Trouble &amp; Łukasz Seliga, which is going to be released on polish label Koh-I-Noor Records later this year.
