Pianist and electronics wizard Bugge Wesseltoft's unique future jazz carves out sonic landscapes that traverse from contemplative ambient to blistering improvisation. ln a solo performance that utilises the venue's new concert grand, expect the unexpected from this truly original artist at his only UK concert. Support comes from Cinematic Orchestra's Stuart McCallum who brings his own unique musical explorations to The Band.

Live Roots presents the debut UK tour of this Colombian 7-piece that wowed audiences at the last WOMAD with a spectacular, super-tight performance of joropo music and dance. Hailing from the vast Orinoco plains which stretch from Colombia into Venezuala, joropa is a fast traditional rhythm played on harp, bandola and cuatro accompanied by bass, cajon and maracas which Cimarron fire up with a flawless virtuosity and a heart-stopping sense of drama.

Led by harpist Carlos Rojas, they have been experimenting with the music of their homeland for the past two decades on the search for new musical horizons, whilst staying true to their roots - all of which led them to a recent critically acclaimed collaboration with celebrated Welsh harpist Catrin Finch. Band on the Wall welcomes this truly spectacular band to the venue on their very first visit to Manchester.

More rough and ready sounds from the Republic of Sofrito, inspired by a session with Simbad at Red Bull Studios Paris in February. 
Taking in new Sofrito releases from Simbad & Frankie Francis, a recent track from the Haiti Direct EP, Gwo Ka percussion and some 80s flavours from Jamaica and Guadeloupe, with a syndrum and a tape echo to accompany.

Reginald Omas Mamode IV - In This Case (Get Over Yourself) (Worldwide Premiere)

DJ Mitsu The Beats (@mitsu-the-beats) kneels down at the ultimate electric piano altar, dedicating the third volume of his Beat Installments series to the Fender Rhodes. 

Within the dozen tracks, the legendary Jazzy Sport rep celebrates his undying love of the illustrious, and beautiful instrument, unparalleled in the central role it has played in jazz, soul, funk and hip-hop over the last 50 odd years. As a result, all 12 tracks are PVA glued together by their shared warm timbre — perfect for the wintry throes of November.

Any of the tracks could have made the cut. The likes of "Totemic" or "Cultivate" with their slothful drum fiddling and Sunday-snoozed bass and keys fillings. "The Valley" and its mile-high, breezy tendencies. Or maybe even the stark and spacious make-up of "Gateway".

In the end, the aptly named "Pilot" soars the highest. Unsurprisingly, it's the Rhodes taking centre stage but the keys are appropriately co-piloted by a dank and drowsy snare-bassline combo.

It lands on December 19.

A long time in the making, DJ Spinna's first appearance on Boiler Room was worth all the wait. Playing an all vinyl set between Pete Rock and Danny Tenaglia, he took us from hip hop to house in the smoothest way.

Singaporean label Darker Than Wax have been pushing the musical boundaries in their motherland for around five years now, with Lithuanian producer Deep Shoq a notable fixture on their roster in helping the development of the Darker Than Wax style. Following on from last year's Arrow EP that featured on King Britt's guest mix for Benji B's BBC Radio 1 show, Deep Shoq announces his second DTW release, Krystallise EP. The four tracks fall in line with the broken beats and uptempo rhythm akin to Symbols Recordings and those of similar ilk, with EP closer "S.O.A.K." taking place as our top pick, as probably the most forthright and bouncy track of them all.

Krystallize drops fully on 15th January 2016. The pre-order will become available on the 8th January 2016 via Beatport.

Larry Heard (born 1960) is a musician widely known for the Chicago house music he produced in the mid-1980s and continues to produce today. He was a member of the influential group Fingers, Inc. and has recorded solo under various names, most notably Mr. Fingers. His smooth production style with soulful vocals and long instrumental passages that de-emphasized percussion spearheaded the subgenre known as deep house. One of his first releases was a collaboration with singer Robert Owens, released under the group name ‘Fingers Inc.’. The song ‘Mystery of Love’ instantly became a classic hit, rising to #10 on the Billboard Dance charts. Larry Heard's musical influence can be heard in the songs of countless artists. For those who appreciate warm and passionate compositions, Larry's music is pure magic. He has been blessed with a unique gift that sends listeners into a blissful euphoric state.
