Axel Boman broke through in 2010 with his Holy Love EP, released on DJ Koze's Pampa Records. The track Purple Drank became an instant classic in underground house music circles – since then, Boman has toured extensively while releasing original productions and remixes on labels like DFA, Hypercolour, Kompakt, Permanent Vacation and Ovum, as well as on Studio Barnhus, the label he runs together with Kornél Kovács and Petter Nordkvist.

Family Vacation, Boman's debut album, arrives on Studio Barnhus in November 2013.

“I decided to go through the vast collection of ideas and sketches I had on my computer, as a final project before I set that machine on fire and let it all go up in flames. Kind of like what Lee "Scratch" Perry did with The Black Ark in Kingston in the 70's. A friend says the album sounds like “weird Jamaican space disco" so maybe it's a fitting reference”, says Boman himself.

Axel Boman's music has also been described as "raw and playful house music drenched in oceans of soul". He graduated with a master's degree from Valand School of Fine Arts in 2010 and currently lives in the calm and peaceful Stockholm suburb Gröndal.

Optimo Trax 011 is all about the drums.

This Illumination track (an Anglo-Norse pairing of Nicholas Stilltoe and Per ‘Mental Overdrive’ Martinsen) from 1998 has been a long time favourite of Twitch's that can instantly change the atmosphere in a club, sounds like very little else and is eminently mixable / great fun to mix with. It was only when the master arrived that the realisation came that for all these years he had been playing it at the wrong speed. It is meant to be slow but Twitch had always played it at 45 instead of 33. The vinyl version will be pressed so it can be played at either speed while the digital will be the sped up to the 45 version. It starts off soft and dubbed out until the almost overwhelming bass tones appear only to make way for apocalyptic drum cascades that on a good sound system sound like the end of the world. 


Mr. Marvin's "I Want You" came out on R&S offshoot Global Cuts in 1993. Made by Italian, Marvin Sasha who under the name Sasha made a great series of timeless EPs around the same time, this is a hypnotic tribal gem with seemingly random, panning vocal interjections. Great in the mix but much more than a mere mixing tool.

Lastly is Fuel's "Rigid" which came out on the UK label SCR in 1995 at the time when Chicago's Relief Records were taking over the more discerning djs' record boxes. This sounds like it shares some DNA with one of the many crazy tracks or remixes Green Velvet was making at this time; Industrial strength, stroboscopic snare tattoos that will have you reaching out for the smoke machine's "on" button every time.

All three have been tried and tested countless times since they were originally released and come with an Optimo Trax guarantee that if played in the right way, at the right point in the night they will not fail to work on the dancefloor.

Brothers is a techno-devoted label – masterminded by two real life siblings – with a unique selling point rooted in the art of collaboration. For some time now the Bar25 label has wanted to put out a release with all of our Swiss musician friends - the many folks who came to the Swiss Weekends at the Bar and generally made a habit of visiting us in Berlin. The Bar always had a deep Swiss connection, manifested not least in the legendary Swiss Cabin, home away from home to larger groups of visiting friends and Monday evening after-hour hotspot. "Alpenglühen - Feines aus der Schweiz" (Alp Glow - Swiss Bliss) is a swanky double vinyl of high-quality production art made in Switzerland. On vinyl 1, Animal Trainer from Hive Audio share a side with Andri, the Zurich native who is famous for his energetic live set's. Techno gladiator Wandler and live artist Canson play the other side, while vinyl 2 lets two matadors from the new Zurich club Frieda's Büxe - Don Ramon and San Marco - steer for a while. And the two music geniuses from Galoppierende Zuversicht are also here, fittingly, using sounds recorded live at Frieda's Büxe for their track. The sampler concludes with the exceptionally talented Mastra, who contributed a special song to this Swiss musical collage. The digital release also comes with a bonus live track by sublime stage band Rizzoknor. Even the cover was designed in Switzerland, during a Bar25 night at the legendary Cabaret in Zurich. We're all excited about this release since it's a special one for the 25 label. Marked both by good old times and new horizons, this record is a musical compilation representing the very special kind of artist that will always be welcome in wild Berlin!
