The POLAAR label head is pushing the boundaries of wild leftfield bass music. Across the last two decades, the French DJ, producer, and label head has brought her transcendent visions of bass music to sound systems. Her latest album Rituals is a stunning encapsulation of her twisted sound chimaeras – juked basslines juddering, heavy percussion, and future techno beats soar amid moments of blackened ambiance and skittering, hip hop-adjacent hi-hats. Stepping up for a special entry in the Members Mix series we have Balamii and Day Timers affiliate Yung Singh providing us with the Sounds of Punjabi Garage. Peep what he has to say about the mix and the importance of the underground Punjabi scene of the late 90s/early 00s:

“I really wanted to put together a mix that showcased the full range of Punjabi garage, from proper speedy garage to 4x4 with loads of swing, proper shuffly 2-step ,and more contemporary releases. There are tunes in here from the 90s, early 00s all the way to brand new and unreleased bits. One hour of 100% garage from 100% Punjabi producers/vocalists. 

This mix is really an ode to the late 90s/early 00s Asian Underground movement that was so important for mine and my older sibling's generation - one of the main reasons I got into music and DJing was mostly because of listening to my older siblings playing garage/jungle/house when I was growing up, with Punjabi garage my first love! “
