Here’s the second mix installment of our Esfinge Edits mix series entitled "Music For Stoners & Lovers" selected and mixed by Esfinge Edits label heads Sphynx People. This second volume of the series is a music selection of interesting original material from our bag that we considerate them as “stoner disco” and “adult oriented disco” tunes that defined our sound as label and studio-only project blended with some slightly more 80’s discofied stuff for slow mature dancefloors and also some obscure trans-continental balearic-minded edits including one of our forthcoming tunes of the debut release on Esfinge Edits that will be out in June 26 exclusively on Bandcamp, more info to be announced shortly. Vinyl collector, DJ and producer Hun Choi (aka Hunee) is the rarest of artists.

Choi’s sets straddle genres without sounding like a forced education, showing both his wide array of knowledge and his deep understanding of the dancefloor. A Berlin resident for many years, Choi recently upped sticks and moved out to Amsterdam, so it seemed almost inevitable that he’d end up working with the city’s stories Rush Hour imprint.

The label released Hunee’s debut album Hunch Music earlier this year, and it highlighted just how versatile Choi is as a producer. Giving requisite nods to Detroit and Chicago, Choi tracks through house and techno’s cinematic side with a unique lightness, bringing his expertise and pacing as a DJ to his productions with ease.

That same expertise can be heard throughout Hunee’s FACT mix. There’s nothing showoffy here, rather Choi has hand-picked a selection of summery deep cuts from his extensive catalogue of rarities, blending fuzzy soul, melancholy disco, hypnotic Kosmische music and plenty more to emerge with a mix that practically demands the clouds to part.

Hunee will be performing at Farr Festival this summer – 16-18 July to be precise – so if you’re in the Hertfordshire area, make sure you head over to the Farr site to investigate the expansive lineup and snag tickets.

As usual with a Hunee mix there’s no tracklist, so get spotting.

ニックが始めて日本に現われたのは、’93年の彼がまだ20代を少しすぎたころのことだった。大バコのディスコだけがはやっていた東京の常識をくつがえすために彼は登場した。ガレージやウェアハウスパーティーが全盛だったロンドンから、同時性を求めてやって来たアンダーグラウンドパーティーLife Forceのメインマンとしてターンテーブルの前に立った彼を、遠巻きにしていた人々はすぐに彼を受け入れダンスフロアに飛び込み、そして踊ることに夢中になっていった。幻想的なライフフォースの空間にスピンを与えたのは、ニックだった。スタイラスはグルーブをはずれることなく、Deep House、Acid House、Detroit、Chicago、Techno、Afro、Latin、Jazz、Soulful Discoと次々にくり出されるレアグルーブは、高名なレコードディーラーである彼の目前を通り過ぎる広大な音楽の河を彷彿とさせる。（実は彼はヒップホップの巨大ストックを持っている）ニックのテイストとミックスは進化し続けた。短い同期でロンドン-東京の往復を繰り返す彼を、東京のレジデントと思い込む人もあったほどだ。この1５年の間、彼は東京を飽きさせることは一度も無かった。現在の、あるいは10年前の彼の音を熟知する人に、1５年前の録音をきかせてニックであることを判る人はまずいない。ニックの音の選択は、東京にいつも最新のインフォメーションをもたらし続けた。最近ではライフフォース以外にも、TAICOCLUBにも参加。これからも、近未来の音楽の方向を示し続けてくれるに違いない。

「TAICOCLUB’16」でのライブレコーディングです。


-このミックスのコンセプトを教えてください。

嬉しいことに「TAICOCLUB」では毎年クロージングセットを任せてもらっているんだ。このミックスは今回の4時間セットの後半部分だよ。


-最近の活動を教えてください。

最近Dan Tyler（Idjut Boys）とのリエディットをリリースするために新しいレーベルを始動させたんだ。レーベル名はRecord Mission。今のところ、どのEPもそれぞれ違った雰囲気があるかな。RM1はディスコ、RM2はもっと80年代のエレクトロニック寄りで、この前リリースしたRM3はゴスペルディスコ&ソウルって感じ。
