S'il a signé l'un de ses plus gros tubes techno de tous les temps, l'oeuvre de Rolando (@rolando000) ne se limite pas à Underground Resistance. Installé depuis des années en Europe, il s'est retrouvé signé sur bon nombre de labels influents tels que Ostgut Ton, Delsin, Bass Culture ou encore Saved Records, avant de prendre aujourd'hui le chemin de la liberté avec sa propre structure :

"R3 - Roland Rocha Records, était l'étape logique pour moi aujourd'hui. J'ai beaucoup de choses à faire écouter aux gens. C'est une grande liberté que de pouvoir sortir des morceaux quand je le souhaite, dans le bon contexte, avec le bon timing et le contrôle sur mon propre travail. C'est comme un peintre qui encadre ses oeuvres, le contexte doit être juste. (...)"

Now and again, we get Debut considerations from relatively unknown propositions that are absolutely worth pushing in spite of minimal 'status'. Spousal duo Lejsovka & Freund (FKA Trouble Books if you're up on your Ohioan experimental folk) are a solid example.

They paint pink-hued textural brushstrokes, set low drones to hover in the air, let piano lines gracefully unspool – and don't exactly shout about it themselves. So we're more than happy to help. If you're after some patient, pretty listening for the onrushing autumn, their new LP Fatal Strategies (featuring similarly genteel soul CFCF on fretless bass (yes, genuinely)) could well be for you. It'll be available in October, worth making the effort to seek out.

"My favorite set that we played this year at Burning Man was at Robot Heart. It was probably the only set that I really prepared for with Walshy Fire.

I'll be honest I was a lil nervous because I really wanted to make it run with energy for the full two hours and our typical audience isn't that used to a classic dub and reggae set. Myself and the whole RH crew wanted to create something really special for a sunset party and keep it true to the theme but to still feel like a Robot Heart set. The Robot Heart crew had told me that they wanted and entire set that sounded like "Major Lazer - Get Free" and I had to think hard about it. To keep the vibe going for two hours and for that record to be the climax was a challenge but I realized if you stick to your guns for the whole party and steer the audience in a direction and keep them with you, then anything is possible.  I hope you love it.. It's perfect for a party on a Sunday afternoon and represents a different side of Major Lazer"

To be honest, it's criminal that New Jersey native, Flamingosis, hasn't made a Boiler Room appearance yet. The now Brooklyn-based producer has been on our radar for a while, most notably via Sean Keating's regular office stereo plays — this year's future funkified 'Bright Moments' and the hazy brilliance of 'Pleasure Palette' from 2015 especially.

Both of those releases nonchalantly tread the tightrope between hip hop and disco/funk; often smooth and late summer afternoon-themed with the analogue punch of boom bap.

As he's noted in his description, this 50min blend comes after a similalry warm experience in more ways than one. Upfront 089 is blessed with incredible music that is custom-made for afternoon and late evenings spent horizontal. Gritty funk/rap knockers are shock absorbed by downtempo (sometimes saxophone-laced) jams from Flamingosis and his clearly talented group of friends.
