I wanted to do something different for this night, so I experimented with a new approach to my preparation, organising playlists with tracks by what kind of sound design and moods they contain, and putting them within folders that indicated the general intensity in order to slowly ramp up the tension. This groundwork allowed me to prepare an arc for a deep set where I could make long layered mixes while maintaining the groove, speed and improvisation I consider to be recognizable features of when I DJ in a club.

Although this set also sustains a steady groove and flow, it is still a departure from my usual, more instinctive way of playing, where I tend to switch more impulsively between styles and themes, mixing tracks that have pronounced rhythmic elements with tracks that have very memorable basslines and hooks, especially from earlier decades, call it old school, 90s, 00s, retro or outdated if you want. I do this in order to keep a sense of playfulness and unpredictability going (fu n）with selections that have a distinct character.

This set was more about consistency, atmosphere and subtle transitions. The aim was to have the music slowly progress over the course of the set but without it becoming a static affair. This is why I completely avoid looping tracks, as I want their sounds to continuously evolve, and the phrasing in their structure to be continuously accentuated throughout the mix. 

It might not sound quite like what you would expect from a Comrade Winston DJ set, but I actually had a lot of fun constantly keeping two tracks in the mix while preparing for the third to take over, slowly stacking upon the current mood instead of rapidly switching between different ones. Prefering not to rely on the element of surprise but rather slowly reach a boiling point and to enjoy the ride.

Co-founding Ballet Mecánico, he transitioned from synth-pop to darker tones until techno music captured his passion, prompting him to embark on a solo career. It was by then that he released his debut album, "Eleven," on Elefant Records, making a significant impact on the Spanish techno scene.  With over two decades of influence in the industry as a multifaceted artist — DJ, writer, composer, remixer, and live performer — and an extensive repertoire of more than 30 EPs and six albums, HD Substance stands as a key figure in the history of Spanish electronic music. Diapasøn, a passionate and versatile artist, has shown a deep interest in music and playing instruments of all kinds since a young age. It was in 2012 that he fully immersed himself in the world of electronic music, a means for him to fully express his passion for contemporary influences.

In 2015, he founded Cosmic Wave, initially as a collective, quickly evolving into a label which he has co-managed since 2017. A lover of vinyl, he crafts a unique sonic universe, navigating between ambient and psychedelic techno. His captivating music creates soundscapes filled with emotion and entrancing textures.

Since his debut on stage, Diapasøn has had the opportunity to play alongside many artists such as Claudio PRC, Christian Wünsch, Deniro, Benjamin Damage, Skudge, Blazej Malinowski, Polygonia, Lenson, and many others. All these performances have inspired him and contributed to shaping his artistic identity.
