The Brazilian city of Salvador’s deep connection with the African continent has long been a central influence in much of the city’s output, with legendary Afrocentric carnival ‘blocos’ such as Ilê Ayiê further strengthening the connection with the African identity over several decades.

A leader in this movement today – Batekoo: a LGBTQIA+ focused collective whose central theme is celebrating Salvador and Baiano culture. For Boiler Room x Ballantine's Salvador, we’ll be bringing them back to home turf for a celebration of the city at its most cutting-edge and innovative.

MARTE is a Venezuelan DJ, singer and producer based in Miami, known for her boundary-pushing sound and dynamic versatility. Specializing in open-format mixing, she seamlessly blends genres like Techno, Jersey Club, Footwork, Speed Garage, Raptor House, Latin Club and more, creating immersive and high speed and energy sets that resonate across diverse audiences. As her alias and alter ego, EVIL MARTE, she partakes in mixing House & Minimal Tech exclusively, and restricts her speed to the genres. With a formal background in music as a singer and a relentless drive for self-taught innovation, MARTE is a multifaceted artist. In addition to her solo career, she is one half of Miami-based femme DJ duo MARU, alongside mnu, where their chemistry fuels a shared vision of bold, genre-defying performances.

MARTE has left her mark on Miami’s vibrant music scene, performing at premier venues such as Factory Town, Floyd Miami, Jolene Soundroom, The Ground, Domicile, The Boombox, Over Under, Eagle Room, The Corner, Freehold, and The Joint. Additionally, she has performed in line ups for festivals such as We Belong Here & III Points. Here is the message:
I have many stories to tell. I express most of my sentiment through rhythm and sound. To me there is a refined way to do all things. Though many may not take the route of refinement my connection to Oshun will not allow anything else. For me music is the purest and highest form of communicating love, pain,and progress. I recently went through a painful experience that brought about a new level of power and reason that I put to verse and rhythm. This lamentation will be the first single from my new Album "Romantic Flight". For some reason I just could not finish it before, now I know why. 
This new lesson had to reveal itself. Thank you Orisha and Egun for bringing me through.Thank you to my friends who have my back, and a special thanks to those, who even in there deception, brought me to this place of truth, you have inspired beautiful music. Ase'o
