“It’s been an amazing rollercoaster of a ride with Play It Down and when asked why I would stop releasing in its current incarnation the answer was obvious. I’ve always been very involved in the A&R process of all the releases. I’ve always felt confident to tell an artist if something should be taken out or added because I have spent (near enough) every weekend for the last two decades in a club, listening and playing House music. I would test the demos in my sets and know automatically what felt right and what felt wrong. If I’m not playing in clubs it wouldn’t feel right for me to tell someone who is playing shows every weekend how their record should sound. And ultimately, Play It Down for me has been about finding music I've wanted to play in my sets. So for the minute it’s a massive thank you to all the artists, fellow DJs, supporters, club-goers,
distributors, journalists, radio presenters, interns, promoters, bootleggers, and to Laura (who has worked day-in & day-out overseeing near every part of the label for the past five years) for letting us come up with dreams that all of you have helped make a reality.
This Play It Down 100 compilation album of original tracks brings back all the current roster to collaborate and a few tracks written solo by some of our key artists. It was a very enjoyable process to see what they would all come back with.”

A word from Junior: "'Move' came about while I was literally "taking a break" in the studio; I guess there is no break when creativity hits. This is a record that encompasses a deep NYC classic House feel while still having some Mood II Swing intensity on the dub. It's pretty much a well-rounded House influence on this record... and there you have it. Initially I didn't know what to do with it, until Jesse [Rose] heard it and lived with it for a while. Lewis Boardman follows up last year’s thumping “Whoyouwho / Sucker” EP with 2 brand new original tracks. Both have a bouncy, yet a vaguely ominous aura about them, a characterization that has often become synonymous with the Liverpool resident’s production style and DJ sets: “I make music that is suited to me and my style of DJing. Sometimes it’s really deep stuff around 121 bpm and grooves along and then sometimes it’s dark and creepy, in-and-around 125 bpm. But it’s always a true reflection of the music that I’m really into and passionate about.”

Beyond his productions, Boardman has also become a staple in the UK’s underground house scene. Quick on the jump to collab, Jesse Rose hopped on the next double-header with “Ask For More / Oh, Like This, Ok” which garnered support from the likes of Pete Tong, Steve Lawler, Davide Squillace, & Joris Voorn to name a few.


2016 has also spawned the start of a very successful string of tour stops around the globe on both the club and festival front and has seen him spin in front of some of the world’s biggest stages. In June we saw the birth of Weiss City, a night at Egg London with Weiss at the help, with its third installment at the start of the month selling out for its third consecutive time in a row. His song “You’re Sunshine” has seen major success in recent months, getting major play on Radio 1 and has been dubbed by many the standout track of the summer.

Furthermore, Weiss aims to continue on his hot streak with his latest upcoming release on Play It Down, “Groove Is On / Heaven” which will be available on Beatport/iTunes/Spotify and all other digital retailers on 30th of October.
