Play It Down brings together many of its veteran artists for the 100th release, which, in the current incarnation of the label, will also be its last.

A word from Jesse Rose:
“It’s been an amazing rollercoaster of a ride with Play It Down and when asked why I would stop releasing in its current incarnation the answer was obvious. I’ve always been very involved in the A&R process of all the releases. I’ve always felt confident to tell an artist if something should be taken out or added because I have spent (near enough) every weekend for the last two decades in a club, listening and playing House music. I would test the demos in my sets and know automatically what felt right and what felt wrong. If I’m not playing in clubs it wouldn’t feel right for me to tell someone who is playing shows every weekend how their record should sound. And ultimately, Play It Down for me has been about finding music I've wanted to play in my sets. So for the minute it’s a massive thank you to all the artists, fellow DJs, supporters, club-goers,
distributors, journalists, radio presenters, interns, promoters, bootleggers, and to Laura (who has worked day-in & day-out overseeing near every part of the label for the past five years) for letting us come up with dreams that all of you have helped make a reality.
This Play It Down 100 compilation album of original tracks brings back all the current roster to collaborate and a few tracks written solo by some of our key artists. It was a very enjoyable process to see what they would all come back with.”

Longstanding Spanish talent Dennis Cruz achieves a career milestone this October with the release of his debut album, Roots. The ten-track LP draws inspiration from Cruz’s life experiences, resulting in a body of work that encapsulates the sounds and musical styles that have led him to where he is today.

Dennis spoke on what this moment represents, stating: "I wanted to work on a broader project, the cornerstone of my artist career, and this is what Roots is. The album is a convergence of influences taken from music that I've been listening to all my life, from funk, salsa, and flamenco to house and disco. I am so happy this project could finally come to life. I want to thank the several friends and artists that worked on it with me; Damian Lazarus for believing in it from the beginning and helping it reach the world on Crosstown Rebels." - Dennis Cruz

The journey begins with La Ratonera, a Spanish-themed cut that sets the tone with a warm underlying groove and P. Rivas’ enchanting vocal hooks. Los Tamales soon arrives, released as a July single ahead of the album, before Good Old Days completes proceedings on the A Side. A collaboration with minimal-maestro Ian Ludvig, the result is a stripped-back dancefloor number that feels ripe for the late night hours.

Ecua takes charge on the B Side, upping the tempo with resonant kick-hat combos and plenty of flamenco-inspired swing. What U Doing comes next, as Leo Wood’s harmonic vocal tones perfectly complement Cruz’s hard-edged, groove-led bassline, opening neatly into Bend. The three-minute piece showcases the Spaniard’s love of jazz and salsa throughout.

We’re treated to another piece of teamwork on Go Down, with iconic Jamaican singer Lee Scratch Perry featuring on top of a low-slung, rhythmic backbone, paving the way for Ahora Todo Va (Dub). Josh Butler’s influence can be felt right from the get go, as four-four drum patterns converge on spicy, latin-fuelled lyrical samples.

Te Quiero Cantar acts as the penultimate track, bringing us more funky, house-driven flavours before Back Again brings things to an ebullient close. The final collaborative offering with Iuliano Mambo takes us on a journey through punchy percussion and swinging synth build ups, rounding off an eclectic body of work that looks set to light up dancefloors across the world this year.

Roots showcases the many facets of Dennis Cruz’s production capabilities. The album embodies the life experiences that have defined his career; the moments of progression and elation, from fresh-faced up-and-comer to established musical presence. At the heart of the LP lies an inherent Spanish theme - a nod to the country and culture that Dennis calls home. It’s playful, joyful and built to make people dance, three traits personify this talented producer today.

While summer is in full swing, we present you a fine package of brand new remixes of Ron Carroll’s house classic “The Sermon”. 

Sharply moving, synthesized bass frequencies drill themselves through a tight knit net of massive hi-hat and percussion layers, while the classic vocals provide the jacking vibe. Tobi Kramer manages to playfully inject cutting edge techno funk into his handcrafted mix.

Industry veteran Paolo Martini is next to join the Emerald City family with Red Rocks. Bringing the funk, he delivers a solid two-track release with irresistible groove and dance-floor disco heat.

Paolo Martini has been in the business for over 30 years, first releasing with Gianni Bini on various labels such as Defected, Strictly Rhythm, Universal, Azuli and Nervous. They soon established their own label Ocean Trax and handled remixes of Kylie Minogue and Jamiroquai. Paolo has also been testimonial for several clothing brands including Diesel and Adidas and also the Rane MP2015 mixer. His following co-productions can be found on acclaimed labels such as Hot Creations, Snatch!, Moon Harbour, 8Bit, Saved and Cecille amongst many others. 2017 starts the beginning of a new adventure with a string of releases geared up under his new solo project.

The last month of the year is here and elrow Music wants to start the celebration early, with the release of its ERM145th reference, in the form of a Various Artists EP. And this isn't just any other EP. 'elrow In Stereo Vol.1' is the first collaboration between yours truly, elrow Music, and Stereo Productions, the worldwide recognized platform of Chus & Ceballos. In this first take, the Stereo crew has taken over our headquarters and have tailored a high rolling EP, with tracks by Chus & Ceballos with Melé, Danny Serrano, David Herrero and Rafa Barrios - all of them, familiar faces of the Stereo family -.

Without a question, one of the big highlights of this V.A. is Chus & Ceballos collab with Melé, showing off their studio trickery. 'Galera (Original Mix)' is the track, that starts with a shy energy, but thanks to the African percussion, the atmosphere and melodies that guide the track, the chanted vocals and the overall progression its turns itself into a techy beast, perfect for peak times on the dancefloor.

Danny Serrano's take is perfectly recognizable in 'Levy's Tale (Original Mix)', a straight, pitch down, tech house affair, that breaks into madness after a great vocal momentum.

On the other hand, David Herrero's 'Rokhaus (Original Mix)' has a more techno-like vibe, with a darker atmosphere but keeping the housy progression, topped by a great vocal line that appears by the end of the track.

With the same kind of vibe, Rafa Barrios takes part in the EP with 'Kalengo (Original Mix)', a deep tech house kind of track, with a truly amazing organ momentum just in the middle of the song, that breaks into total madness making this another outstanding dancefloor bomb.
