A few years back, my friend Shelby and I were performing in an indie rock band around Southern California. After the band dismantled, Shelby wanted to keep singing, and I wanted to keep making music. To get us back on the groove, we recorded an acoustic cover of Elle Goulding’s hit “Lights,” which had been living in my hard drive for years. When Kris and I started playing around with remixes, I pulled up the session and took the vocal tracks out. The idea of recreating something I’ve already finished gives me the opportunity to breathe new life into something I had forgotten about. We had a blast making this, and I hope you all enjoy it.
