This very prolific producer built his name releasing few albums on famous Mistique label and making interesting bootleg remixes of some big tunes. One of the latest - made on track by Trifonic, was supported by Guy J himself and that's for sure the best recommendation regarding production skills and incredible talent of Piotr ! After lots of experimental output during last years Piotr is now willing to concentrate on more clubby, techno oriented side under his new alias. First EP containing three original tracks perfectly reveal what you can expect from the guy that doesn't meet any limits and schemas producing high quality, dark and intriguing electronic music.

Separated Togetherness EP


Opening track La Aperture floats on a fabulous jittery percussive groove and hip-wrenching sub-bass, laced with melodic swells and wave after wave of lush motifs, in what is an excellent collaborative meeting of minds between Straub and Fe Vargas. For Jericho Straub goes solo, creating an excellent low-slung, clanky metallic groove, spotted with solo synth lines and evocative vocal snippets. He follows this with Reinforcement, which is built on an energetic, exceptionally tight and focused percussive groove experiment, unrelenting in its linear attitude throughout. The perfect finale comes in the form of Collecting The Stars, where, bedded on a stripped-back kick and snappy percussion groove, Straub and Nilseus build a beautiful melody-rich cinematic landscape, riding on a carpet of deep, driving bass and detailed rhythmic mastery.

With recent releases on Josh Winks Ovum imprint and Hot Since 82s Knee Deep In Sound, Philipp Straub is an ever-present creative force. Hi 26-year career as a DJ and Producer has helped inform his 3D understanding of what it takes to make dance-floors around the globe work to perfection. In addition, his industrious involvement behind the scenes within the industry, have seen him become a true stalwart of club scene and someone whose influence will shine bright for many years to come.

Thales Boutroumlis represents the fresh new guard of tech house. The teenager from Cologne follows up his debut of last year on EIN2 with a two tracker for the venerable Poker Flat Recordings. For one so young, Boutroumlis shows a great deal of maturity in his productions. 

Title track 'Perpetual' is an elegant and slinky tech house burner - a shuffling groove is matched with sly and crafty synth work, while the arrangement shows a strong sense of dance floor dynamics. 

'Aether', produced alongside Tantum, heads in a deeper and darker direction - bringing out an edge and attitude that will go over big with the dancers. A bubbling acid bassline drives the drama, while pads give the track a sense of space, before dropping once more into the killer groove.

Sunrise at Burning Man
It is high on the list of the things I could write a book about.

The relentless wrench that is 2020 forced us to consider and reconsider almost every aspect of our lives and routines, including Burning Man. In the quest of finding solutions for all this disruption, we all came up with some pretty cool stuff so far, and the creative forces that take the spectacle of Black Rock City to increasingly bigger heights each year went into overdrive to create and a virtual version of our beloved dust bowl. 

Comparing the virtual Burning Man to its IRL counterpart is as foolish as comparing ‘2019 Burning Man’ to the 1998 edition. Each year is different, and 2020 forced us to adapt to a new kind of different. Playing a sunrise set on the real playa is incomparable to doing one in VR, where only one out of the 24 global time-zones experiences the actual sunrise while the music unfolds; where there are no collective goosebumps, shivers and hugs, and where you can probably not feel the bass like when you’re standing in front of a battalion of dusty sub-woofers. 

However, there were elements of yesterday’s sunrise that made it uniquely special for me. The most important element was the inspiration to make a long three-hour Deep House journey again, which I had not done in months. Quarantine had made me explore different genres and moods, dismissing Deep House as something pointless that should only be played in the presence of collective energy. But even though a streaming event and a VR event are ‘cheating’ when it comes to collective energy, this one still had that feeling that the moment is being experienced by many people at once. 

I very much enjoyed the act of imagining the full extent of collective energy, even though my screen only revealed the implication of this energy. I am very proud of this musical journey and I published it for re-listening. I hope you enjoy it too, and you too can close your eyes when listening, and imagine the moment when we are all standing in front of those bass-bins again, and we can scream, shout, gaze, and hug. The power of music is an incredible force, and I am honored to be a link in its chain.

I’ve been obsessed with the multimorphic nature of time. Since March, so much has happened, yet nothing has changed. Every day is a copy, but yesterday feels like a distant dream. Time is abundant and infinite, yet I wonder where it has all gone.

My recent meditations have been extremely vivid. They’ve reminded me to embrace the now, which has diluted into always. Maybe I’m experiencing eternity, a taste of immortality. Sounds like something nice.
