When it comes to acidic slo-mo chugging Nu Disco, East London-based DJ and producer Alex Wastnidge aka From Beyond is one of the most talented names out there. The high quality of his originals and remixes is proof that Alex is the guy you are after for a proper Cosmic Disco-infused Indie Dance experience. With previous works released on vital labels such as Golden Soul, NEIN, Paper Disco, and Boite Music, Mr FB now makes his debut on the interesting British platform Paisley Dark Records with “Simulated Emotions”, a five-track EP featuring three must-have originals and two stately remixes made with love by Bedford Falls Players and the label boss himself, John Paynter aka A Space Age Freak Out (SXDNS123).

Premiered here, the stunning contribution by Bedford Falls Players, a UK-based collective of DJs heavily influenced and inspired by the early Acid House and Balearic experience. In their “Emotive Remix” of the title track, such influences can be noticed: The trippy but energetic atmosphere of their 110-BPM version is delivered by the fusion of arpeggiated acid synth layers and groovy percussive elements topped with dirty blasts of Saturnian (or Martian, perhaps) FXs. Definitely one of the highlights of the EP.

Solid Mexican label Innisfallen Records is finally back on track to deliver its first (better-late-than-never) release of the year: “Fake Expectations” comes from the minds of Lusca (SXDNS216) & Andrem and features two beefy originals plus three fat remixes made with love by Undefined Pattern (SXDNS197) – who contributed with two interesting versions of the title track – and Sequencers.

Lusca and Andrem are more than used to working in partnership with other artists: The former, along with MUFTI, forms the accomplished duo Los Fugazzi; while the latter, together with Montessori, establishes FLXXX, another gifted and esteemed duo.

The track we were solicited to premiere was carefully cooked by Daniel and Gilberto Cornejo, the brothers behind the… yes, duo Sequencers. Inspired by different music tastes, they use their disparate influences to deliver a mixed sonority, combining their independent takes from the huge scope the underground music has to offer and handing over something very particular.

For their interpretation of “Fake Expectations”, the lads decided to speed up the original a little bit (from 108 to 115 BPM) and immerse it into a darker atmosphere. The dirtier and more energetic version, full of distortions and elements, seems to be the result of letting two kids fooling around with vintage studio equipment and midi controllers. Gloominess at its best, but with a powerful groove. We liked it!

Playground Records is psyched to present the very first release from Vilnius based producer Monk Ernie, ‘Invisible Pink’. A six hook-filled jams that will take you to the depths of Baltic Post Funk.

The original tracks are as catchy as they are groovy, incorporating influences from all around the world. Psychedelic party music, safari disco madness, fake ritual gurus, driven rubbery bass lines and weird tones. A solid pack with a high quality organic instrumentation to rock the dancefloor. Mid tempo electronic funk from outer space, all 100% playable.

On the remix side, Tel Aviv producer Uriah Klapter delivers a reinterpretation of ‘Invisible Pink’ perfect to be played on a beach at dawn; and Lassi International boss, the Argentinian SidiRum, does his magic on ‘The Lamp’.
