Alexis Le-Tan and Tom Colebrook quite fluidly morph into our lazy initials: ALTC. Our current appreciation for an older psychedelic sound can be traced back to a dirty, careless and omnipotent period in the early 90’s when the sun, the Fridge Club or Space Tribe leggings brought our bodies together in time to these heroic sounds. Then it all sort of just wound down, more abruptly for some, and for a long time. But like old Smaug under the Lonely Mountain, we understood the longevity of gold. A few years just gone we embarked on a restlessly chaotic and passionate re-appraisal of our sonic past - just at a different speed. An ever growing archive and many edits later, we find ourselves still going; we are a happy and volatile little team, Mr. Le-Tan, who needs no introduction here, a Titan of this slow sound - arguably the original, whose honed booth selections are regularly adorned by loyal crowds all over Europe. Mr. Colebrook, a flash in the pan veteran of the Goa scene, now mainly chief archivist and an Internal wordsmith of ill repute.
There was a folder that existed in the archive called ‘The Socialists’ and over time as we pondered it, we began to understand the contents as taking on some sort of metaphor for a socialist arc of success and defeat, of growth and change, of hope and loss, of commitment and desertion, of lies and the truth, of battles and peace, emptiness and loss. Heroic themes indeed Comrades. As a musical selection, we wanted to imbue these metaphors with corresponding sonic inflections, sometimes we thought of sounds coming up through the ground to fight and be victorious or perhaps to lose, only to retreat and live another solitary day. Some were sounds for a moment of blissful morning sun soaked success, or the grey pulse of an imagined industrial trench. But above all - this selection of songs shows a commitment to each other and to the time and place they were made, and how they exist here - Now. We hope you enjoy the show!

Since 2019, the "From disco to disko" label based in Bastia, Corsica, has been offering its own vision of "dance music" without borders of styles or formats. This new release « EV004 », a UFO for the dance floor halfway between an edit and a remix, marks the arrival on the label of the duo Acid Child, based in Manchester in a very free adaptation of this track from 1981 by the group Foreigner.

It's been two years since the first Extinct Melodies, and for this occasion, we thought it was time for a special release.
One that has no borders, no identity, no language barriers, and no influences, just edits from the world.
We're recollected over the years a lot of praise for these series and we would like to thank each and every one of you for playing these edits out everywhere, from Boiler Rooms to living rooms, from Asia to South America, and from the weirdest to the biggest.

This special compilation of 8 edits si brought to you by producers from 20 to 50 years old, it's here to show you that good music knows no age.
A special mention goes to Alpine DJ from Bordeaux with a killer rework, as it's his first release.
Some of the tracks on here have been playing around a lot by some of the biggest names in the game and have turned a couple of heads, like Lau Tropico's "Tamma Tamma" or even RFX's "Blue 周一".
No introduction is needed for Skyrager (1/2 of Psychemagik) whose digging skills are as big as his heart and has conceived a top notch DJ tool edit.
And the last 5 to grace us with their gift are two collectives of DJs who are making their imprint on the music scene such as the duo Dharma Collective from the UK & Jitter from France.
It's a family affair, and you can hear it by the palets of musical touch and colours.

Rework (@wannarework) serve up a superb new EP taken from their forthcoming ‘Real Love’ full length on Exlove Records (@exloverecords). The label's musical universe includes indie, electro, synthpop, post-punk and more from Rework side projects such as Pola Woman, Sceti, Sugartin and She Lies.  Rework are Michael Kuebler, Daniel Varga and Elmar Mellert who often work alongside a series of vocalists. They have put out modern club classics on Frankfurt-based institution Playhouse and make what they say is “new wave house” combined with icy minimal structures and catchy euro-girl vocals. More music has come on My Favorite Robot, Items & Things and Visionquest and their upcoming album is another musical adventure hinted at here. The dazzling 'Take Me Out' is a languid, low-slung and sleazy disco cut. The bass guitar is fat, the twitchy synths bring a cosmic feel and the steamy vocal is utterly seductive. As the loops build, arpeggios appear to bring further light and energy and lock the dance floor in for a pleasurable ride. 'Boring' then picks up the vibe with a cheeky, funk-elected groove and some sensuous female vocals that entice you to the dance floor. 'Real Love' is another track steeped in libidinous synths and vocals, with grinding French touch drums, shooting cosmic chords and hip swinging claps designed for maximum dance floor effect. 'Stardust' closes with crystalline synths and a downtempo rhythm that sinks you into a cosmic reverie full of love. 

This is a great teaser for the adventurous house and disco full length to come.

Rework - Take Me Out [Exlove Records]

When they first appeared to the world on episode N° 035 of our FREEDL series at the end of 2020, we said "very little is known about the Roswell Brothers". Almost two years have passed since then, and still, the information we have about the trio remains scarce. What we know so far: They are two Chileans and one Mexican who live in Mexico City and are fans of Lucha Libre. After their debut on SXDNS, they released solid EPs on Emerald & Doreen and NEIN and now land on Veneno with a must-have seven-round fight: "Futuro Eterno" showcases the Brothers' retro-infused sonority by presenting two high-flying originals and five acrobatic remixes made with inspiration & transpiration by hot shots Adán Aradillas, Brandski, Vleks, Mau Maioli (SXDNS246), and Neurotiker.

While "Eternal Future", the original, is a New-Wave-meets-Synthwave beauty, the remix we chose to premiere brings shards of Cosmic Disco combined with pinches of French House to the concoction. For his collaboration to the Roswells, besides embedding deep and beautiful synth layers, Brandski opened the vaults where he keeps the talkboxes and vocoders he inherited from Daft Punk and inserted some robotic magic into the theme. Nothing surprising for those familiar with the previous works by the skilled Toulouse-based artist, who is able to bring together his many an influence and deliver high-quality material, independently of the genre.
