The name Simple Tunes is deceiving: with Simple Tunes, nothing sounds simple at all. The duo from Hamburg delves primarily into the depths and shallows of the 80s pop. There, handy forms and formulas hit complex-structure tracks. The typical synthi sound of formal wave big names, such as Depeche Mode or Human Leauge, weaves through all the tracks in a high energy disco style. The track strikes flashy hooks here and there then bubbles throughout a song. And there is drama, baby! As if wave queen Siouxie herself is on the mike; extreme emotions covered in candy coloured glitter paper. But this is only a little taste: Simple Tunes dazzles the listener on many levels.
