'Steps' is a timely release that comes during an experimental and fluid epoch in electronic music which proves to be a soulful, west-coast inspired footwork masterpiece. 

With varying influences from Jukesquad to TekLife – the original Chicago footwork crews, Jo Def carefully combines west coast leaning, bass-heavy vibes with traditional syncopated footwork sounds to produce a cohesive listen all the way through. 

The lead single “SWIM”, wraps a wavy and filtered Sade vocal with bass stabs and head-nodding tempo for a sexy yet danceable time. “Took It Thurr”, the “2u 4u” Slum Village flip is a classic in its own right and given the Jo Def treatment, the song transforms into a spaced-out, cerebral journey through Jaydee’s vocals fused with the footwork sound. 

Based just north of Los Angeles in Oxnard, CA, Jo Def brings a wealth of musical knowledge and positivity to the label. By delivering the spirit of footwork infused with soul and rnb, Jo Def's unique sound-vibration cements Soulection's dedication to bringing visibility to new artists and timeless music worldwide.

Solid Steel (25th April) 20 years ago Nas released his legendary Illmatic album and DJ Moneyshot has put together an outstanding tribute mix 'Nas - Half-Man Half-Amazing'. As with the previous tribute mixes for the Beastie Boys, De La Soul and Public Enemy, it's more an audio documentary threading together sample sources, interview footage and remixes alongside the original Illmatic tracks. Hear the vocabulary, the flow and the rhythm expertly delivered by Nas, backed up by the sublime production of Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Large Professor and Q-Tip, plus original samples from Lee Erwin, The Heath Brothers, Ahmad Jamal and Reuben Wilson. All this deconstructed and rebuilt by Moneyshot for another classic Solid Steel edition.

"So as I travel around the world I always take advantage of playing any beach bar I possibly can. The 'Different Oceans' mix series gives me the excuse to search and find the records I truly desire. This particular recording was taken from my time in Byron Bay on the East Coast of Australia earlier this year. I hope this selection Inspires you to visit there someday. 
This is a selection of recordings from various beaches I've had the privilege to play at and fallen in love with. All available to download so you can enjoy the same music I did under that Vitamin D we call Sun."
