Julius Steinhoff and Just von Ahlefeld are Smallpeople - a dj and producing duo from Hamburg, Germany that do more than just DJ and produce. They also run the record store Smallville in their hometown and take care of a record company of the same name, releasing house music full of references to the genres rich history. For Carhartt Radio they have put together a show featuring tracks by artists such as Move D, Lowtec, STL, Lawrence, Moomin, and Steve Tang. A thrilling mix that represents the labels trademark ageless house that admires subtle, evolving melodies.

Art pop emerged alongside Pop art and was influenced by the movement's integration of high and low culture, exploring ideas such as pop's status as commercial art, notions of artifice and the self, and questions of historical authenticity. Musicians and bands like Iggy Pop, The Velvet Underground and Roxy Music echoed Pop Art's emphasis on simplicity, pioneering a modernist avant-garde approach to art-rock and pop that ignored the conventional hierarchies of artistic representation and explored the relationship between creativity and commercialism; simultaneously celebrating and critiquing popular and mass culture. This month’s mix explores the influence of Pop art on music.

Our man in Amsterdam formerly known as Trepid returns to the Avenue Red Podcast with yet another sublime mix of deep, dubbed out, dreamy, melodic electronic music. This is his third contribution to the series, but this time under his new dubtommy alias, which he converted to last year. This is an all-vinyl mix fusing deep house with some breaks/electro cuts, a very nicely wrapped package of sweet delights to help turn up the brightness dial on our temporarily shut-in, locked-down, greyscale lives. It's time to recline and let it all flow through you, preferably at high volume.
