Over the past few years, Luca Binatti released a steady stream of quality EPs that showcased a remarkable talent with a clear understanding of what makes dance music unique. Also known for his guise as D:fferent Place, where house music is the main topic, Luca's boldest experiments belong under the Pressure Point project.

Pressure Point's debut on Pluie/Noir is no different — a collection of four ultra-personal tracks drenched in honest emotion and playful psychedelia. And it sounds as human as it sounds outer-worldly. Inspired by music genres unrestricted by the club ecosystems, "Ghost on Tape" features compositions that span from deeply spacial house to low-swung ultra-detailed minimal. 

Cover artwork features a stunning painting by the exquisite London-based artist David Surman. "Mask of a King / Midas" is inspired by Agamemnon's mask found in ancient Mycenae and Picasso's last self-portraits, furthering the emotional impact of the release as a whole.

PHI010 - Experiential Assist - Obsolete Systems EP

Ukrainian artist Aliana has been making her way in the underground music sphere since 2015 and with her cutting her teeth by way of her own MUZA collective she has more than her share of experiences. Kyiv lays claim to the lion’s share of the top clubs but her own hometown Lviv has given her the platform to really grow as an artist. 

From releases on esteemed labels such as Finest Hour Records, Variable Records, Small Hours and as one half of Midibasics her sound palette ranges from squelchy acid to rich, lush soundscapes and everywhere in between. We welcome Aliana to our InSession series and from the outset her sights are set firmly on making you move. Peak time beats, cosmic zaps, undulating basslines and trippy vocals all combine to provide just the right amount of bump to this future retro ride.

Rickie - The Infinite Way

Of late Italian artist Jacopo Latini has been getting serious props and rightly so. His no nonsense approach to house music is refreshing. Super phat basslines and massive lead synths all packages together with the tightest of grooves. Having been a core part of Shaque and DJ Tjizza’s onpoint Mood Waves imprint since the first release Jacopo together with Giammarco Orsini as Data Memory Access are surfing that wave of peak time, bomb heavy output at present. Also heading up his own label Taboo Traxx alongside T.Oceans this doesn’t show any sign of letting up either.

Having starred at Picnic’s huge fabric takeover, DMA and Jacopo in solo mode has brought the heat to all manner of raves. Danube in Berlin, Shelter in Amsterdam, and countless events in his native Italy has Jacopo racking up the miles. We are thrilled to welcome Latini to our InSession series and he comes correct with a finely balanced mix. Expertly treading a funky but fine line between electro, house and bass heavy breaks, this is a mix that superbly showcases the many styles and musical loves that make Jacopo Latini an interesting prospect for now and most definitely for the future.

Belgian artist Mandana is a firm favourite on the circuit, from Ibiza to France, Germany to Barcelona and back to her home turf of Belguim and her beloved Amsterdam. A regular for the likes of VBX she will again be turning out for their annual throwdown at BRET and she has a keen ear for the finest grooves. Production wise she has also cut her teeth with some of the biggest labels in the business with Loco Dice and his Desolat stable as well as Archie Hamilton’s Moscow Records.

With an ear firmly on the originators but with both eyes locked on the future of house and techno Mandana. From the very first track on her mix for our InSession series it is clear that she puts in the hours digging for just the right vibe that will set her apart from her peers. Electro tinged breaks, lush deep house and punchy grooves this mix has it all. If you are at Amsterdam Dance Event or indeed anywhere that Mandana is spinning make sure you are front and centre for the duration.

Argentinian artist Lumière has, since leaving her South American home setup a new life in the bustling streets and avenues of Barcelona. What has always been a hot bed of underground music has, in recent times, Barcelona has begun to really bear its teeth again. Right at the very core of this is Loud-Contact and their resident Lumière. She has been instrumental in delivering their wide-ranging manifesto of the finest underground sounds in the world. This has led her to far flung destinations and as a result some very interesting line-ups indeed. From fabric alongside Mano Le Tough and Sasha, to Jardim Sonoro alongside minimal heavy weights such as Raresh and Margaret Dygas, and of course the myriad of heavy hitters that she welcomes at Loud-Contact, Lumière is peerless in her range.

For her mix for our InSession series she boils down all these influences and propels them into her muscular, acid soaked sonic vision. Breaks, lower tempo techno and vocoded electro all have a firm place in her heart and in what has become a sort of signature sound of the city, Lumière is at the vanguard of this scene. With the mix run time clocking in at just over an hour, she moves quickly through the gears to offer a short but very sweet addition. It is little wonder that she is a star in the making and revered by all corners of the electronic community.

Lumière - Trommel InSession 087

@alexanderskancke is a Berlin-based DJ, producer and rising talent within Europe´s underground house scene. The young Norwegian has made a sizeable impact on the electronic music scene, dating from way back to his early releases on Neostrictly, to the internationally respected releases on his own label Quirk (@helloquirk). Entrenched in his love for vinyl and analog productions, Skancke is imbued with a passion for the very roots of house music, but has also kept his ears open far beyond the boundaries of electronic music.

Skancke’s excitement for analogue is reflected in all aspects of his life: from his work at Bikini Waxx (a record shop in Berlin specializing in second-hand vinyl), to his fascination with vintage studio gear, all culminating in his music having a wonderfully raw and organic feeling.

The 3 tracks that make up his “Public Trouble” ep showcase Alexander Skancke´s knowledge of the history of dance music without copying the originals, but instead creating his own unique signature.

The A side - “This Go This Way” sends you on a crazy acid dream, driven by a hypnotic unstoppable beat with Alexander Skancke´s voice appearing out of the ether, before vanishing away. 

For the B1 track “Wind Sync” Alex teamed up with his label mates and renowned DJ- and Producer-Duo Foehn & Jerome (@foehnandjerome) at their studio in Berlin. Together they've masterfully crafted a light footed minimal house track with a slightly melancholic touch.

The EP´s title track “Public Trouble” truly shows off Alexander Skancke´s love for deep minimal funk: An ultra groovy piece of music based around tight beats and warm basslines, topped off with a funky stripped back synth line.
