About LOWCO:
Washington DC producer LOWCO debuted his sound in 2020 with Punks music, and in 2021 dropped a string of releases with labels Uprise (NYC) and Spanish imprint 83. Combining influences from UK breaks, jungle, electro, and house, Lowco has quickly gained notoriety with both American and European audiences.

Plump DJs vs Stanton Warrios - Breakspoll Awards - 25-02-2005

After seeing my Classic Breakbeat Vol.1 mix reach over 16000 plays a few months ago, I knew it was time to pull my finger out and do another one. Thanks to everyone for supporting Vol.1—this new mix is for you.

I went back to the drawing board for this one and decided to approach this mix slightly differently than the first mix. Vol.1 was a nod to the smooth mixing style of Kid Kenobi, who 100% got me into breakbeat back in the day. Vol.2 alternatively is a peak time festival-mashup set, designed to take you on a ride from start to finish. As well as getting to include more classic breaks tracks I missed on Vol.1, I made an effort to slot in a lot of festival anthems from the same era of dance music (roughly 2004-2010).

So here it is, well over three months of work collecting lost music, sampling, listening to old mixes and searching for forgotten gold. I'm stoked how it turned out and I hope you will be too.

DiiSTORTiiON - Classic Breakbeat Vol.2 [June 2022]

This set was first performed on January 1st 2024 in San Francisco at the Breakfast of Champions block party on the Space Cowboys main stage.

A RE:CONSTRUCTED set is a *long* way removed from a standard DJ set. It's a live/hybrid set.

Simon takes hundreds of tracks from his huge library, painstakingly deconstructs them (using Ai if needed to separate elements from the original tracks), and then pieces everything back together to create a hugely emotive and immersive musical story.

He uses Ableton Live and multiple controllers to trigger up to 16 individual channels of audio at any one time during the performance, and also performs live keyboard overdubs. The end result is a hugely addictive, compulsive and compelling blend of music that's often new, often familiar but always utterly unique.

For me some, of the most exciting and fresh sounding music has been with the breakbeat scene over the years. Playing to 40,000 people at the Exit Festival, headlining shows across Australia & New Zealand to big Festivals in the UK & Europe, USA & Canada. So many great artists have been a part of the Breaks scene ie. Freq Nasty, Plump DJ's, Stanton Warriors, Adam Freeland, Evil 9, DJ Icey, Deekline, Prodigy, Meat Katie, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Rennie Pilgrem, Soul Of Man, Squarepusher, Pendulum, DJ Zinc & many more are all featured in this podcast.
